Good! Although it's illegal and whatnot it's not a big deal. At least some little kid isn't getting scamed for a christmas present. I think ebay should keep it, people are going to steal games like that anyway, at least this guys open about it.
Somebody make me a "CGE 2k7 Attendee banner" so I don't have to use this lame text

Personally I don't see anything wrong with the auction , because he states all over that these AREN'T the real games. The only thing I don't like is that he shows pictures of real games, and some complete idiot might just look at the pics and buy it without reading everything, but that is there dumb fault anyway. I didn't even know that burning PS2 games was possible, I guess that shows how up to date I am with the newer consoles. :P

While I happen to agree with you, you still should'nt be allowed to buy burned copies of games when the real one is still comonly available. I was a mod for a long time over at the Home of the Underdogs and we always tried to only host games that were no longer being made or sold.

Yeah, I too am very suprised that this is still up there.

If ebay doesn't pull this auction, and people get wind of it, then I can see a lot more of this type stuff happening.

I can't understand why they wouldn't pull it though, especially when they pull modded systems and pirate systems.

Topics > eBay Policies > Prohibited and Restricted Items > Unauthorized Copies

Do not list unauthorized (such as pirated, duplicated, backup, bootleg, and so forth) copies of software programs, video games, music albums, movies, television programs, or photographs on eBay.

I really can't believe those of you who don't see a problem with this auction. Especially you, Marty ... didn't you go on for a month or two about how someone stole YOUR wallet and some of YOUR games? I guess that's okay now, since people are going to steal anyway ...

HA! I am surprised eBay haven't jumped on this auction and yanked it off already!!! What with all those keywords in it...

And what is th elikelyhood of someone else owning 200+ original versions? And who want's all of them backed up! Lol!

Good if you have a spare 24 hours to test the games though (The legal time you can hold a copied disc before destroying it if you don't own the original)

Even the people selling modded Xbox's are starting to become more blatent about it!

    But there's one problem

It's illegal to recopy another person's work and sell it for profit

Actually the 24hr rule thing is only a myth. There is no law that allows you to keep a bootleg or a rom of a game that you don't have for only 24hrs. If its a bootleg then its illegal and you're not supposed to have it for any amount of time.

BTW, is that bogus bid one of you guys having fun w/ the seller?

Thats a myth made up by thieves to justify what they're doing.

Exactly.... It's not even legal to download a rom if you own the game.

And it's still being questioned as to the legality of backing up a game that you own. But they did rule on DVD backing up didn't they. You can do it but you just can't make or use a program that does it.

Here's another one that's pretty blatany but clear in what we was selling. I can understand a buyer bidding on this one actually as the price is reasonable and they can be a bitch to collect if you're on a 56k connection.

In fact, it wasn't completely a given in Japan that you'd have the right to resell your own game (though that was ruled on) - some videogame manufacturer or other wanted to challenge that.

Basically, you have NO rights to screw game makers over, and you usually can't do things you'd like to.

    Greetings programs.

It is legal to download ROMS in many situations thanks to the amendments to the digital millennium copyright act.

    Check out the official word.
    http://www.copyright.gov/1201/

This however does not apply to any games for any system still being made.

Long time no see, Vulcan Jedi!

However, I'm sorry to say that you're wrong. That amendment lets you break copy protection on "obsolete" systems, however you define that; nothing about backups whatsoever. Sorry :(

My bad for forgetting ROMS can also be CD

I was referring to rom dumps like carts and arcade boards.

If the copyright holder decides to license the code to use on a currently produced system like all the new stand alone TV systems then all of a sudden atari 2600 ROMS are now off limits again.

Ebay seems to be very slow in dumping these auctions though. I wonder if they ever let some of them go through so they can get busted?
