    Default Mattel Aquarius question.

Does anyone have any information on these units? I ran across one today at a thrift store and am not sure if I should snag it. Seemed complete with hookups and some expansion unit for what appeared to be cartridges.

If I remember correctly, it's basically an Intellivision in computer form. You can even find the same titles. I found a bunch of Aquarius stuff in a thrift once, and ended up selling them off at a CGE.

So... Does 9 bucks sound fair? Decent condition but no way to test.

I have three of them, they arent worth much and there is about a dozen or so games for them. I acutally dont even know if mine work because I dont have any games for it. If its cheap, I would pick it up.
Its not a Intellivision, no were near the quality of the games from the screen shots I've seen.

Nine bucks isn't a bad deal. If you want to know a little more background on that system, you can read my write-up on it here.

Quite different from an Intv. I think I got mine at a flea market for $20 or $30 boxed with expansion, ram cart and 2 games. I would snag it if it is in good condition...what price did they want?

Hmm...personally I'd pass. Unless you're one of those gotta have one of everything types, I can't see much reason to add an Aquarius to the collection. I had one MIB. It sat and sat and sat until I finally convinced someone to buy it from me at a loss.

Sold mine for $20 two years ago, with the cassette drive, all complete in box. Not an entirely unwanted item, it seems.

You don't need a game to test if it works. Basic is built in, so just turning it on will test if it works or not.

The expander was used to allow for an increase in RAM if I recall, and a more easily accessed cartridge slot. It also allows you to plug in joysticks, which are really just smaller versions of the INTV controllers.

I've had one in my trade box for years, any there is little interest in it. $9 is probably a fair price, but only get it if you plan to use it. I wouldn't grab it with hope of reselling, since you might be hanging onto it for a while.
