Default Anyone remember this handheld game system?

I had it years ago, around 1980. It was very long rectangular system that was dark brown and had light brown "cartridges" that were almost the length of the system. The cartridges had a square hole near the top to let you see the black and white LCD screen that consisted of a bunch of square blocks. The cartridges also had an area that consisted of a keypad overlay. There was no actual keypad but rather a pressure sensitive area of I think 3x4 "buttons" (though there were no buttons but pressing certain areas simulated them. I remember one of the game I played all the time was a "Connect Four" type game. The system also had a paddle control under the "keypad" that I used to play breakout all the time with. For some reason the memory of this old system that I haven't seen in over 20 years just poped into my head and I can't remember what the heck system it was. I used to play it alot back in the day....

It's called a Microvision, originally came packaged with Block Buster. If you seek out another, make sure to buy a tested & working, they have a bad problem with the screens dying.

In a stroke of luck I found two minty boxed Microvision carts at a vintage toy store around town. Sub Hunt and Baseball. I thought I already had them, but woo hoo I didn't. Fun machine though, I still have mine from many many many moons ago.

Lee Harvey Oswald was not a male model... You're god damn right he wasn't, but those two lookers who capped Kennedy from the grassy knoll sure as shit were.-

I remember that I had one of these as a kid. Not very durable, I think it broke the day I got it, or soon thereafter. The only reason I remember having it was that I kept the box it came in which I used to hold my erector set parts.

Edit: um, wait, that's not the thing I had.... nevermind. Maybe I should get another cup of coffee....

No matter how obscure you think it might be, any thread that begins with "Anyone remember this ..." around here is going to end with a dozen people who remember them and another half a dozen who collect them.

Wouldn't that have to be anybody over 20 years old though?

Or do we get the "I remember when my Dad had one"

Yeah, I just need a couple games for that and I'll complete that collection (US Only btw). Now what I really need are Studio II games.

By the way, I think the Microvision is the first cart-based portable. Far from being the first successful cart-based portable, though. THAT came 10 years later.
