Default New GC memory card with data already on it?

I bought a GC memory card the other day. It's a cheap Madcatz, the one that comes with a GC-like case for it. Anyway, when I loaded it up, I noticed it already had game data on it, from Soul Calibur! There was nothing on the package that mentioned it or anything. Has this happened to anyone else before?

Madcatz has a line of cheap memory cards that comes with data. I've seen these cards on the Xbox but I didn't know that there were Gamecube ones too.

If you guys want a really good deal on a GC memory card, EB sells the Interact ones for $5.99 pre-owned in-store ($5.39 after Edge card) but they've never been opened. I have my data saved on 3 of these and they've never given me any trouble.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

I bought an Xbox memory card, I think it was Madcatz, and it came loaded with Max Payne saves, all hacked out. I checked the package and there was a small sticker saying there were Max Payne saves on it. Which were promptly deleted.
    I game therefore I am.

Do NOT buy third party Memory cards.

    Do NOT buy MadCatz anything.

    Period.

And you'll be happy forever more.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn MadCatz recycles cards. They do make shit after all. Shitty shitty shit shit. MadCatz shit. Icky crappy shit.

Did I mention MadCatz sucks beyond all comprehension?

    madcatz sucks.
I had their crappy component video switch. it went batty.
i had a crappy n64 madcatz controller. the analogue stick literally went so limp it was flopped over.
No third party crap is any good imo. Memory cards wipe out and controllers break down.
    Icky crappy shit.

Their original GBA power station kicks ass though... but yeah I wouldn't buy a third party memory card from anyone.

I swear it said on the outside of the box that it contained special game saves for a game. I have the exact same memory card as yours.

Here I am - Come to say what you have all been waiting for me to come and say... "Was the box sealed?"

If not, then there's your answer - The data is probably on there from one of the staff using it.

I agree with what has been said above - Buy official products, not cheap skanky third party ones. If you can't afford proper memory cards, then do without until you can. Or put it on lay-a-way for a few years!

Let's put it this way - Official products are guaranteed to work perfectly with your system and games Etc. Third party ones aren't.

And, if you ever came to sell your system Etc - Official products will always be worth a lot more than skanky ones.

er.... mad catz has a number of memory card variants with saves on them and it's not always easy to tell by a cursory glance at the outer packing. why? well, for those people who don't like to be masters of unlocking and play games honestly, i'd imagine. if you were around during the early days of the playstation, you might remember those action replay type memory cards that had cheats on them in the form of game saves- this is sort of the same thing, but you can actually delete the saves and use the card like a regular one.

    This is so true!!!
Never buy third party anything, espcially something like a memory card, when there is first party things on the market.

I know they are way cheaper, but that's exactly what you are paying for, cheapness!!!

Not all 3rd party stuff is bad, I got a Interact SuperPad 64 Plus that works good, and a MadCatz PSone controler that also works good

You're probably right, I just didn't look at it too close.
