Hey,
A couple of the Game Gear's that I have are starting to look a bit fuzzy. What would be the best way to go about replacing the screens? Also, when you do replace the screen, do you replace the whole thing, or just the cover?

The cover is glued into place so you can lift it off if you manage to get a knife or similar under it. Personally I've drilled a hole about 2mm in depth into the cover and put a screw in so I can pull the screen it off. The knife method is propably safer, just try not to mangle the case and screen while at it.
You don't want to take apart any more parts than is necessary since dust will get beneath the cover more easily. Just do it fast and in a clean area and you should be good.
DavidleeRoth is referring to the lens over the screen...that's prety easy to replace. The actual LCd creen itself is pretty much impossible to get a hold of as a spare part. It is not a standard composite out screen. The signal is a quirky 4-bit digital signal of some sort, as I undertsand it, so any commercial LCD wont work with it, even if it is the same size.
I have made atempts to get a Gamegear hooked to a TV, and this is far as me and a guy named Victor Kemp got:

Aside from a Sega Dev Gamegear with a video decoder board added (which has yet to be made into a schematic), you will have a very hard time replacing the actual screen. If it totally dies on you. it's best to buy a new GG, if you can find one.
