Default Out of this World, Flashback, etc...

I have such a craving for these kinda games. I think they really captivated the adventure "cinematic, if you will" genre perfectly without being overcumbersome to the point of losing its purpose.

They were great little adventures that you could enjoy again, and again, and they never really get old, cause they are hard to learn, but once mastered they are still fun to beat from time to time, cause you can fly through them once you know how, did I also mention fun?

In this day, and age of complicated adventures that take 20+ hours to beat, and only last once, cause you can't just easily access them is kinda sad. Where are these little choose your own adventure/simple interface adventure games that I can play again and again?

To me these games were the future of gaming. When did EVERYTHING adventure get so dang complicated?!

    Edit:

I had to edit my post to remove the title "action/adventure", cause action games have pretty much remained action games. Adventure games are the ones that have gotten saturated with me too, complicated structure. To be simple, I don't feel that a game has to be titled "action." Of course the word "simple" is objective.

The next logical step for me from these great games WASN'T Fade to Black, it was Abe's Oddyssee and Abe's Exoddus. Munch's Oddyssee is a good transition to 3D, but I'd love to see a port of the first two Abe games onto GBA.

Ico for the PS2 reminded me of those old Flashback-style titles, particularly when it frustrated me to no end.

mmm Ico. GOD I love that game. Blackthorne is another game in the same vein, just punched up a little, action-wise.

Slightly Off Topic, but just incase you are interested:

There is a relativley new game that was basically a remix of Out Of This World. It came out on the playstation, it was called... Heart of Darkness.

I played it, it was pretty fun, you should check it out.

But then again I thought Out Of This World was the best game ever created so I could be the wrong person to ask.

So what did everyone think of the TRUE sequel to "Out of This World", called "Heart of the Alien"? I played about 10 minutes or 2 stages into it, it was way too hard for a lame-o like me. Anyone play that game seriously?

It was too hard for me too, but my cousin is an OOTW fanatic and blew through it while I watched in amazement. It was a better game graphically, but the puzzle solving was less emphasized. Most of the obstacles were less cerebral and more of the "try and use the whip to kill a guard and jump over a pit while not getting shot" variety.
