Absolutely has to be Tecmo Bowl for the NES. I've honestly never played the arcade one (I should try to, some day), but out of the whole series, the original is my favorite. It's simple enough to be spectacular; the others get too complicated to be a "simple" game, and then they're just not very good "complex" games.

Super Tecmo Bowl for me. While the original was fun, Super improved on it in every way. I've played some Final Edition and it seems like a good game. Never played the others.

The original is by far my fav, simplicity at its best, plus the way can rush for like 400+ yds. a game by running in the zigzag pattern

Tecmo Super Bowl for me, although I put in a lot of time with the original. For me everything was improved for the sequel like making some of those running backs easier to tackle

Tecmo Super Bowl a million times over. Keeps mad stats, lets you save, has all the teams and players, tight control, more plays, custom playbooks, mucho fun.

Tecmo Bowl was fun, but, TSB blasted it in everyway. lacks all the teams, only has 4 plays, and stat keeping. Does not have the save feature, although it does have a password system. My biggest complaint is that it is almost impossible to complete short yardage pass plays in TB vs. another player. if you are good enough, you can intercept the ball everytime.

ZigZag pattern works better in TSB IMHO. The tighter control in TSB allows you to do circlels and all kinds of great cutbacks.

Well here is my take on the Tecmo Bowl franchise.

Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) is my all time favorite. As already stated it improved on allot of features and became the first football game ever to have both NFL and NFLPA licensing. It also introduced the idea of keeping track of stats throughout a season mode.

Tecmos Super Bowl (SNES/Genesis) is close behind because it's essentially the same game ported to the SNES and Genesis. It also had an incredible new feature the touchback.

Tecmo Bowl (NES) Is a great game but as also stated above if you're playing with experienced players they will pick every pass and block every field goal. The Game Boy version is also a port of this version.

Then things take a turn for the worse. They start messing with the field view in Special Edition and Final Edition. Final Edition can be fun because you can make a player. We won't talk to much about the Playstation version. Its like a bad version of Final Edition. I only played the arcade version a few times and my cell phone won't support the new Tecmo Bowl game.

Tecmo had plans for a PS2 version in 2001/02 but couldn't afford the licensing. Chances are it probably would have sucked but who knows they did return to their roots with the cell phone game.

    Default Tecmo Super Bowl

Super Bowl for the Nes hands down. I would get up extra early to meet my good friend at his house before school to play a game. The game was a perfect blend of playing your favorite NFL characters....in a totally unrealistic environment. The game was not about realism, but stats, strong simplistic gameplay, and most of all.......Jerry Rice that could catch any friggin ball thrown to him. For me, I it was the most played Nes game and a game I still bust out. The game still rocks!

I like tb and tsb but i like the first one the best just because of all the hours it was played at my house. I actually played about 6 games just 2 days ago and still love the game.

TSB (NES) is one of the greatest games ever IMO.

I will have to say that TSB 2 and 3 are not that bad. It took a while, but they are still pretty solid games. I think they improved on the formula in quite a few spots, though the weak point is that they made it TOO simulation like in the play. No crazy super long passes or anything like that. My only gripe is that at least 2 times per season, a game freezes up and I have to reset the thing.

    The Playstation one.

Oh wait.....BEST one. Oh, heh. Yeah, sorry.

I'm going out on a limb. Not that I don't like the originals, but create-a-player is just too much fun to ignore in III. I had almost an entire Bears team made up with friends. Same basic gameplay, great stat tracking (I'm the best QB in the league??!!), and a nice graphics engine. What more do you want?

The first Techmo Bowl on the NES. We spent countless hours playing that on the NES, back in the day.

For those of you who might not know what miaandjohnrule is talking about it is possible to play a new version of Tecmo Super Bowl on your original NES For more information on how to get it done check out this thread and scroll down a bit where I posted pictures and info.

    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46466

and who's the joker who picked the PSX version I was just playing it recently and while I was able to get a good running game going the passing just isn't there in this version. I also miss all the cut scenes.

I'd be intersted to here from people who have played the cell phone version. How well does it play?
