Not to toss you elsewhere, but try posting that question to www.atariage.com . Those guys (and gals) eat, breathe, and live all things Atari. I bet they get "How do you hook up an Atari 2600 to modern TVs" questions all of the time. Probably even have a step-by-step FAQ to help ya out.

appreciate the point in the right direction.
No problem. Be sure to stick around here though!

What do you mean "no cable hook up yet?"Originally Posted by soulglo
What hook ups do you have on the back of the TV? One should be a coaxial input. If you've got that, you just need a male coax to female RCA converter (roughly $2-$3) and you're good to go. One end goes into the coax input; the other end takes the RF cord from your Atari. Voila!

i have coaxial port in back of tv. used atari switch box, plugged in power adapter, connected atari rca cable to switchbox and connected the other cable to coaxial port on tv. no picture - checked channels 2-4
THAT'S the page I was looking for! I knew the AA Gang had a "How To" page up. Soulglo, check out that link. Gots pictures and everything.Originally Posted by Flack

can't wait to go home & try it out. however, it could be a bad adaptor i guess. maybe i'll try messing with wires. got a flat-tube tv, if & when i do get this up & running, can there be tv picture issues with tv?
Should work - maybe you're not getting any power?Originally Posted by soulglo

messed around with wires & low and behold, i got picture!!!! it's weird. used the VHF connector straight to TV jack, however, it wasn't until i placed the wires from the ATARI swith box onto the same jack, but still got fuzzy reception. thinkin i may get better recpetion by way of using 2 wire converter as opposed to the VHF cable itself. does that make sense?
There are issues with the difference between 300 ohm VHF cable and 75 ohm coax cable. The adapters are matching transformers that convert the impedence. You can plug the atari RCA cable directly into a TV's coax input with a little adapter cable as both are 75 ohms.Originally Posted by soulglo
In my area near north western Philadelphia there are huge radio towers and a lot of interference so I still use an old game switchbox with a 300-75 ohm adapter. It acts like an isolation transformer and cleans up the signal a bit
