Default Is it easy/ possible to make back up copies of PSX games?

I have a few games for my Playstation that I would like to store away so they don't get scratched. However I would still like to play the games and I am not really interested in PS emulation. Is it possible to burn back up CD's? I have no idea how I would go about doing this or if it is even possible? Any advice is appreciated.

Use any CD backup software, like Nero or DiskJuggler and burn a disc copy "image". You need a modified PlayStation or perform a "swap trick" (just Google it if you're not sure what that is) to play your backup.

Is it really that easy to backup a PS game? How about Saturn?

It's just as easy, if not easier as Saturn games, to my knowledge, did not put modchip detecting software on their games, like Sony did late in the Playstation's life. You still however need to do either the swap trick or install a modchip. To the best of my knowledge, the modchip only works with the Saturns with the round power buttons, not the oval buttons.

actually, now that I think of it, I do most of my gaming on my PS2 so I am assuming there is no way I am going to get a burnt PSX game to work on a PS2.

PS2 modchips allow their owners to play both backed up PS2 and PSX games.

Also, ePSXe, the PSX emulator for the PC, plays burnt PSX games just fine too.

You can also use a flip-top lid kit (usually bundled with Swap Magic) along with a PS1 Game Shark/Action Replay disc to load imports and such on a PS2.

And as far as I know, the Saturn is a real bitch to get CD-Rs working.

Easiest way to protect those games of yours without all that tedious copying/burning/borderline piracy? HOw's about these?

    d_skin Universal Game Disc Skins

They're about a buck apiece and a friend of mine swears by them. I guess you can put 'em on DVDs, music CDs, anything disc-based you'd like to keep scratch-free.
