Default Outputting both composite video and optical audio from Xbox.

So, I gave up on looking for a good progressive scan TV (the one I had made the screen "vibrate" while scrolling in NES games. Weird.), so now I am using my old trusty TV with only composite video inputs. The TV works fine, but I'd also like to use my surround sound setup with all the neat sound features the Xbox has. This was possible with the HD AV pack I was using, and it would be possible with the VPORT cable I use at home, but not while Im using the basic AV cables, because Microsoft was too cheap to put a fiber optic port on the back.

Option one is to buy the "Advanced AV pack", but I would rather avoid that.

Option two is to get a component to composite converter. I dont even know if such things exist, especially at any decent price. Then I could use the HD AV pack and downconvert my video. I know S-video to composite adapters exits and are fairy simple, but I dont know about composite adapters. Also in this category I suppose would be to "mod" the actual pack to output composite, but this I assume is just doing on the inside what I would do on the outside to make an adapter.

Option 3 is to mod the Xbox to output fiber optic directly, but I have no idea how much a plug would cost, or how to do this.

Option 4, which I just thought of, Is to mod the Xbox to directly output "digital coaxial" RCA style. This should provide the same quality as fiber optics for all practical purposes because, well, its digital, and this format seems to carry the 5.1 signal that I want.

I guess option 5 is to not be so anal about getting a good sound, which is not really a bad option, but I'd like to know where I stand first.

I tried searching for some info on this but I had little luck.

    Any help is appreciated.

sounds like Adv AV pack would be more hassle free
    unless you are h/c modder...
