I'm torn... what do they go for these days anyway?
I like their sleek compact design, and also, there's some cool games on there like Tetris, Pokemon Puzzle League, and I always curious how those Castlevania games and Metal Slug plays.
Any words?

These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Go buy a used one for like 50 bucks. A great system best of the current generation of systems.

the answer to this question, and all questions of this nature, is: will you play it?
if not, you could always opt for the gameboy player if you have a cube.
I was in the same dilemma as you about two weeks back, was I going to be getting an SP or a DS? Then I thought about it and remembered the two main reasons to try and avoid systems at launch time:Originally Posted by Steven
1. Dependability, the units get better as they are produced down the line, fix the kinks, as shown by the PSX.
2. The most important I feel is the $$$, I just does not make sense to put down this much coin on a system at launch, they do get cheaper in a fairly short period of time, and sometimes come bundled with great game packages, like the Crystal edition of Xbox, or the Double Dash edition of the GC. This gives added value.
The SP is a proven system with many great games, and you can pick one up fairly cheap with a game too! I also recommend you get an SP for it's ability to play all Gameboy games from the past which is a great bonus.

get a DS it plays both games
Actually if you can afford it you should have both, since the DS plays only the Advance games and DS games. The SP plays all the Gameboy games of the past.Originally Posted by retroman

ds = no gba mutiplayer. Uhm, ok, so it may not matter that much
I'm really angered that they waited until after the DS came out to release the one color I wanted in the first place. (In the US) Pearl White!
Figures. :/
I'm wondering about this too. The only backlit handheld I have played is the Lynx. How does the SP compare to that in terms of being able to see the screen? And is the flip-top better or worse than the one piece GBA? I'm starting to grow weary of playing on a slant, and all the lights available that I've read about apparently aren't that great. Thanks for the help.

the sp is great, and believe me, there is no comparing the ds screen with any other handheld before it.
