Default Classic games hurt by aged interface

Anyone else return to an old favorite and been frustrated by an aged
interface after years of using slick modern ones?

I've been interested in the classic adventure games lately and fired up
Zak McKraken in an Amiga emulator and was horribly dissapointed by the
games interface. I remember at the time being impressed with its mouse
use and being able to click on the command options instead of typing
them in like in Sierra games. Now I find the later games more enjoyable.
Being able to type in the command directly is just faster and easier than
madly clicking around the screen in the clunky SCUMM interface. The late
release SCUMM games are pretty good but this early one is a drag. I'm
not sure if I will complete it but will at least keep with it for a while
    longer.

Oh that's happened to me many times.

    Let's see

Spy Vs. Spy for SMS we used to play for days, now I can't even remember how to open the door or get away from the other spy lol I just remember the game being so much better back in the day

Ikari Warriors NES. I remember playing this game to death and it was like fast action. Recently popped it in and I was like "What is this? This is not the game I remember!" Sadly I had mistaken it for "Guerrilla War"

Joe and Mac SNES. Still looks great, but I just don't remember it being difficult or I'm just out of pratice I guess. I couldn't get passed the 1st boss, but when I was younger, I could finish the game without having to continue!

Sonic 2 GameGear. I used to cuss this out back in 1993, I thought it was wicked hard and never figured out how to obtain the Chaos Emeralds (Since I thought it was like the Genesis, but nope) Is it me or am I the only who was majorly disappointed that there was no Tails or Spin Dash in this game? It Says Sonic "2" doesn't it?

D for Saturn/PSX. A great horror game back in the day, wonderful graphics. Yet now, it's pretty funny to watch. Almost like a Dire Straights music video...Still kinda laugh how slow she moved, but she can run from a boulder? Makes sense...
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

the deja vu/shadowgate games for nes. i loved these as a kid, but moving that little finger around on the screen just annoys me now... might be more fun with a mouse.

The old king's/police/space quest games. The character walks too damned slow. I'll still play em though.

And I'll second Ikari Warriors. I used to love this game as a kind but now it sucks.

If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

After playing more modern RPG's where there is no such thing as leveling up and it is impossible to die, I have a tough time adjusting to Dragon Warrior 1. That game requires extensive levelling up, and if you try to skip even a little bit of it the game will slaughter you repeatedly until you give in and spend an hour straight (or more) just leveling up. I still love the game though.
