Hello everybody my name is Mike and i'm addicted to video games.
With that being said here's a lil background of me. Born and raised in NJ. Full product of the 80's. I like vintage systems and games as well as some of the newer stuff out their. I love anything Zelda related. Also very much into the whole Guitar Hero thing. But to me the original NES is my absolute favorite.

Here are a list of the systems that I own:

    Original NES
    Re-Issued 1996 NES Top Loader
    Super Nintendo
    Nintendo 64
    Gamecube
    Wii

    Sega Genesis

    Playstation 2 fatboy model
    Playstation 2 slimline
    Playstation 3

    Gameboy
    Gameboy Pocket
    Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance (nes limited edition version)
    Nintendo DS (original)

Atari 2600 (wood grain model, 6 switch)

I've been collecting games since I was a child, I've bought and sold a lot of them and do regret selling my SNES collection =( but times were tuff. The SNES system is the system I have the least amount of games for as I only sold the collection about 2 years ago. My 2600 collection is very impressive with over 160 different games =)

Feel free to PM me with any questions

    mike

If you shop on eBay, or hang out on Atari Age, then you may have seen me around. I've not been on your forum here at DP yet mainly because the black and red is kinda hard to stare at. Yeah... I guess I gripe allot.

    HI.

    HI.
Hey, just thought I'd say that you can change the forum color by going to Edit Options in your User CP. The tabs right at the bottom of the settings.
    Chet: It's futuristic, but that's a crate.

Hi everybody! My name's Rhys and I'm a 20 something year old gamer from Colwyn Bay, North Wales.

I found this forum from a blog I read on Retro Games.

I don't really collect too much, but am a big fan of Retro Games, and my favourite ever are Paradroid and The Detective Game for the C64, and Super Metroid for the SNES.

I'm a web designer by trade, and blogger by night

Hello gamers! I'm John, 30 and have haunted this forum for a while. A recent discussion over at the Racketboy forums have led me to finally post here. I'm currently a PS3 nut, but all of the old classics have a place in my hear (especially SNES and TGX16).

Hi, my name is Peter, I chose this usename because I enjoy ALL kinds of gaming...if you stick it in front of me I will play it. I started gaming in '84 when i was 4 years old with the atari and commodore vic 20 (my favorite game at the time was voodoo castle on the vic20, it was a text based adventure game though for some reason I remember always getting stuck in a chimney lol.) and have had a passion for gaming ever since. I have had all the major systems through my life and loved every minute.

I hail from the east coast of Australia. Where games are the most expensive of anywhere in the world. thank goodness for imports
I was introduced to this forum from a collector i trade with online and, after having tried out various other gaming forums, think i have found my home here. This site is fantastic for what I've seen so far and (except for trading purposes) won't need to go anywhere else.

I am using the formula given at the start of this thread and the next question is What your favorite games are....that is a toughy. I guess my least favorite genre is rts. Thats really about as narrowed down as I can get . I really do enjoy any kind of gaming.

I currently have most of systems that are of a maior release with the exception of the NES (soon though)...I will have to see if I have posted pix of my collection here yet and link it here in an edit cause I dont want to have to type it all down lol. Though by some of the collections I've seen here I guess I'm at a beginner level of collecting.

Outside of gaming my life revolves mostly around my wife and kids, work and study. But I guess my other hobbies are music, I am a drummer, computers, movies.

That will do for now I have bored you all enough.
    Cheers

ps when i pass i plan to have my consoles given to either gamer friends or charity but i am getting buried with my dreamcast lol

    Default Introductions

Hello. My name is s.davis. I'm from Norman, OK USA, and found these forums looking for a list of the best famicom games unreleased in the states. I've been interested in retrogaming since before the games were retro, and were just "games I can't afford, and have to read about in magazines."

    Favorite Games:
    Chrono Trigger
    Super Mario 3/World
    Yume Penguin Monogatari
    Mortal Kombat 2
    Galaga
Monopoly for Nes (This is still my favorite digital version, and a major drain on my productivity at work)
    Doom
    Wolfenstein 3D
Yo! Noid (stop laughing, that game rules)
    Photopia
    Simcity
    Duck Hunt

    Systems I collect for:
I don't collect much. I mainly like to play roms of either games I wanted as a kid and couldn't afford, or obscure/prototypes/hacks. I already own physical copies of most of my mainstream favorites, but I love coming across a Color Dreams/Wisdom Tree cart or some other terrible unlicensed platformer or pornographic puzzle game at a flea market or pawn shop. I also love the Virtual Boy, the world be damned. I just wished I had waited a few months before I bought one when it first came out. It never gave me a headache, and had some damn good games.

What I do in real life?
I work at, and am in line to take over a Marina on an artificial lake in Oklahoma. I mainly work the convenience store. I am a clerk serving drunken lakefaring folk. I'm also a writer, yet this has yet to make me a dime, so I stick to the story of being a clerk.

    Interesting Fact (Anetdote):
This has been disputed by everyone in the damn world, including Boon and Tobias, but I know what I saw. I was once playing a game of MK3 (I think it was "Ultimate" MK3) on the SNES, vs. a friend of mine. We played round after round after round. Eventually the game messed up, and characters were able to keep fighting for a short while after the "Finish Him!", before dropping dead. We kept playing, and more glitches kept showing up. The point of this story is that as playing as Shang Tsung, I morphed into Raiden for a short bit, and was even able to do his flying move before turning back into Tsung. Call me a liar, but I swear his code is in there somewhere, if only partially.

Hey everyone. I'm Kristian, I'm 20 years old and I live in Canada.

I don't even know how I stumbled across this website but I'm glad I did haha.

My favorite games would have to be...wow there is just so much to pick from but I would have to go with the Final Fantasy series, only because I could just play those game for the whole day and not realize it. other games would have to be Vectorman 1 and 2...sheesh I know there is more but nothing else is coming to mind!

I mainly collect whatever I like or appeals to me or if its a game I've never heard of and just look strange and odd. I try to look for sega genesis games that are still boxed (its my favorite system)

my Collection started to grow when I was a wee little boy...started out with a NES then a Sega Genesis moves onto a N64, PS1, DC, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Xbox 360 and a Wii. I would have loved to have got a Saturn and all those other systems but when I was younger we couldn't afford those things. Now that I'm older I will be looking to buy one.

My collection went from being a fairly large size to nothing but the systems...the games somehow disappeared, I believe somebody within my family (Uncle) took the box I had my games in and I didn't notice for around a year or less...we were in the middle of moving and most of my things and my parents things (that we didnt need) were stored in the basement until we found a place for them and got settled in. my systems were in a different box in a different part of the basement so i still kept those. so for the past 3 years I have not been adding to my collection but rebuilding my collection. I'm sitting at about 124 games, and still have my original systems minus a couple of gameboys. My friend knew I was collecting video games so he gave me his Game Gear, PS2 and Gamecube. None of them worked but I fixed them myself so they are all working now.

Looks like it's my turn at bat

I found the forums by looking around to find a rarity guide. I found one I decided to register to get some questions answered about a prototype cart I got my hands on.

I collect for just about anything I can get my hands on... little bit of this, little bit of that. Mostly post Atari 2600 and up. I'm always looking for oddities, obscure games, so on and so forth... like most of you. I also display my collection proudly, everything is set up neatly and fully playable whenever I choose. Gotta get my fourth switchbox soon

I'll look for a "post yer collection" thread before I jack this one with pics.

Smile Haven't Used Forums In Ages,,,,

Hey all im Charlie from Melbourne, Australia.
I found the site and forums after doing some research for information about Electronic Arts and their early releases on the Mega Drive. But since then I haven't left the site for a couple of days now. So much to read from people who really really know what their talkin about.
Some of my favourite games aye?, I guess you will have to pop on over to our game review show and see for yourself.
My first console was a Colecovision, then a Super Nintendo, Then My Fave Console,, The Sega Saturn.
In real life Im a Computer Techie, slash Bartender. if that can be a slash..
Ok, So my friend nick and I begun watching AVGN on GBS.TV back in late 06 i think, the first episode we saaw was the Ep when he was asking for ideas for a theme song. Anyway a long time ago,, and over a short peroid of time we became great fans to the point where we would find ourselves telling friends more about AVGN than Pure Pwnage....
Until the Sega Cd Ep,, me being a lng time collector of sega cd since 1998 was a bit disgruntled and took more out of that episode than i should of and went to work writing a rebuttle.
Without any video editing/directing skills i made a vid about the lighter points of the sega cd that made the device so ground breaking at the time. And my friends suggested that I should do more of those videos.. So in time its evolved to a weekly toutube show we do called Strictly Sega, my editing/directing skills haven't improved much but we either talk about certian collections of games, EG: am2 for sega driving series. Or like NFS and its overseas release overdrivin etc or go into detail about just single games..
Most collectors know most of whats in the show but i thought hey if i would watch it then thats what i should make.
Anyway. Nuff about me. Hope to see u round...
    Charlie. -=Strictly sega=-

    Default Mr. High-Fidelity

    Hello,
My name is Erik and I have been gaming since about 1989 when I got my NES for Christmas '88. After that I became a true gamer(I don't really count the Atari days as gaming because it just doesn't hold up all that well today.) I have approximately 205 games from the 8-bit NES to the Xbox 360. I own the following systems with the following video connections:

    NES - Wii-VC in Component
    Genesis/Sega CD(X'Eye) - Component*
    SNES - Component*
    Turbo Duo - Component*
    Saturn - Component*
    PSOne - Component
    N64 - Wii-VC in Component
    Dreamcast - Component'
    PS2 - Component
    Gamecube - Component
    Xbox - Component
    Xbox 360 - Component
    Wii - Component
    GBA - RGB??
    DS - RGB??

    *using RGB-YUV transcoder
    ' using VGA-YUV transcoder

In the last few years, I have jumped up Component. Composite video really does suck ass on any set bigger than 20". No hardcore gamer or videophile should have to put up with it! I have a SCART-YUV transcoder to get component video out of the RGB-ready systems. I now have a vast majority of my NES and N64 running in 480p on the Wii-VC and couldn't be happier!

Friends don't let friends play their games with bad picture quality!!

Now if they would only release Contra, Goldeye, Excitebike 64 and Beetle Adventure Racing on Wii-VC or XBLA I would have 100% Component Video on all my games...

    Erik

I never got around to this, so now's as good a time as any.

My name is Zack, from WV, USA. I collect classic consoles and games, mostly for the NES. It was the game system I had as a baby and small child; I only had one game (Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cartridge), and I played it relentlessly.

Years later, I realized that I needed my old NES console and games back (they had been given away many years earlier so that I could get a SNES for christmas). So I went questing for the console and some games, and the rest is history: I never stopped looking for classics.

I have an NES, Famicom/Disk System, SNES, N64, PSOne (though I can't find it-- where IS that thing?), PS2, XBox, and Wii. I also intend to pick up one of the awesome emotion-engine-possessing 60GB PS3s in the next few days. They're ALL hooked in (except the lost PSOne, of course) through various converter boxes and a VCR to my 32" TV. The two surge strips into which it all hooks in are in need of an upgrade. ^_^

My current favorite games are the Dragon Quest/Warrior series, though this tends to rotate to other favorites like Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, or Final Fantasy.

    Let's see...where to start???

My name,I guess - which is Calvin. I'm 39 years old and hail from the biggest little state in the Union, otherwise known as Rhode Island. I am a professional driver by trade,& currently drive a school bus. (therefore,I'm now on vacation )

I have a wonderful wife & daughter who are into videogaming as well, with Rock Back being our game of choice at the moment. We own all the current systems & play with them all, though we spend most of our time on the Xbox 360.

My other hobbies include movies,dvd's,sci-fi,&comics. I also co-host & co-produce a local cable access show that discusses said material.I've been doing it for a number of years now & have had many wonderful experiences because of it.

Of course, though - DP is about retrogaming,& I have been playing games since I was a kid.I used to really be into it - collecting, playing and whatnot.I even signed up for the Intellivision webring, and my page is somehow still there (though woefully outdated - I made the site up on a WebTV). It's here if you really want to see it,but believe me,it isn't anything special.

Over the past few years my retrogaming desires have been pretty dormant. But a combination of things have stoked the fires,so to speak - and now I'm back & loving it! I do have some nice gaming rarities that I'll post in their proper area when I'm able - but I have a fair amount of old systems & I hope to someday have a complete set of Intellivision & Sega CD games.

In closing -I will tell you that part of the reason that I'm back into this is because I'm finally putting all of my games, both modern & classic - into a database so that I finally know exactly what I own.I fully expect to be over 1000 games when I'm finished.

The other reason will go into the finds area when I'm allowed to post there.Let's just say it's a very lucky find, something I didn't realize just how lucky until I got home and looked at my old DP guide. (I didn't do too bad today either!)

Looking forward to chatting with you all!
