My name is Oscar Campbell, I'm 13 and my nickname is Sodge (or DryNote)

I live in Canada. More specifically, Ottawa. It's really cold up here but I can take it.

I found these forums through a GameSpy article (the shameful games one )

    My favorate games are currently:

    • Half-Life (PC, really great game. Awesome singleplayer and very addictive multiplayer)
    • TimeSplitters 2 (GameCube, Monkeys!)
    • Metroid Prime (GameCube, Dispose of the Space Pirates, in 3D!)
    • Super Metroid (SNES, although I wasn't alive at the time of the SNES I have a ROM if the game and am playing through little by little)
    • Chrono Trigger (SNES, same deal as above)
    • Oni (over-hyped, I hadn't heard of it until a year after its initial release, but it's a good game)

The systems I collect for would probably be the PC and my GameCube. I'm not all that wealthy (come on, I'm only 13! ) but I have a few games.

My "real life" consists of school at the moment. Nothing much else.

I don't really collect games, I just play them and if I like them, I keep 'em. Of course, now that I have a console I guess, technically, I am now collecting, so I'd be very late 2002/early 2003. Yay!

    - Who you are
    Tom61

    - Where you live
    Missouri, USA

    - How you found the forums
By doing a MSN search for gaming collection pictures, which brought up the Ultimate Game Room gallery of this site. Took me quite a while to get through all of them!

    - What systems you collect for
    Anything cheap.

    - What you do in "real life"
    Full time Bum... err... 'Student'

    - Any other interesting facts
Since I collect anything cheap, I've accumulated alot of stuff over the years. I have around 100 Atari 2600 carts, 50 NES carts, and around 30 for Intellivision. I have a few other systems, but most have less than 12 games each.

    Who am I?
    --Gunstarhero, or just Gun

    Where do I live?
--I hail from Elkhart, Indiana USA

What I do for a living:
--I am qualified to operate numerous types of flexographic printing presses. I currently operate a 6-color Webtron, and we specialize in just about anything that requires a label application. If it were 1978, I am positive we would be doing ATARI 2600 cartridge labels.

I found these forums in a post on another BBS that I visit. I'm 27 years old, and I guess I'm a game collector since I rarely sell my games that I buy. So I've collected a decent mass of games over my years. I have 12 different game systems to collect and play games for, and my favorite of these is the Neo Geo AES. Quite frankly, its the pinnacle of 2-d gaming machines IMHO.

I registered here in hopes of adding games to my 5200, TG-16, SNES, Jaguar, and 2600 game systems, whether thru trading or buying. Also I'm always glad to express my opinions on anything classic gaming related, and this looks like a good place to do it.

My favorite games of all time--
    a short list:

    Metal Slug 3
    Castlevania(NES)
    Castlevania III
    Super Castlevania IV
    Warlords

    Default Hi!

    Hello everyone

My name is - Benjamin Harkom.

    I live in Melbourne Australia.

I am an avid game player and have been for most of my 21 year life.

I got word of this message board thru a friend's younger brother who is an X member of this board. (to be honest though, I hated the little B@st@rd, especially after what I read. Punkoffgirl was right for banning the brat)

Anyways enough with the history, I have a particular interest in fighting games, 3D shooters, and strategy games.

    Keeping it real guys!

Hello all! My name is Richard Eklund, from Ontario, Canada.

I am 20 years old. I began collecting NES games back in August 2002. I started collecting because I wanted to play excitebike... I had the game when I was little but I sold my system at a garage sale...

Some of my favourite games are Excitebike, MicroMachines, Earthbound, and any Super Mario Game (but not the ones like Mario's Time Machine, Marios Missing, etc.).

I collect for the NES mainly, but I will buy any Nintendo game if the price is right. I also collect SMS... but I only have 2 games right now...

In real life I am a student in college, but I work part time as a Computer Technition...

Hello my name is Chris and I'm 29, soon to be 30 (I feel old). I live in Ogden, Utah (and no I'm not Mormon and I'm not a polygamist).

I haven't been on this forum very long but I have been a Digital Press reader sence fith edition. I have been reading the forum for awhile now, but have never posted untell now. This will be my first post in any forum.

I collect anything that I can afford (which is not nearly enough), but I mainly focus on systems with good RPG's. RPG's are my games of choice.

What do I do in real life? As little as possible! No really I build car airbag inflators while I try to get through school.

When I'm not playing videogames I'm going to movies or watching DVD's. I also have a web site that I am in the process of building that will have reviews of movies, DVD's and videogames (there isn't much there yet but I'm working on it).

I just recently had a very good friend die. I know how Joe feels now, to lose a friend is bad enough but to lose someone you had that much fun with playing videogames is even worse. I couldn't even play any games for a long time. It was hard to get myself back into videogames but I finally did it. I miss playing videogames with my friend but I know his spirit will be with me always.

After being here for seven years I thought it was time to re-introduce myself. (As if anyone will read it.)

My name is Luke. I have been gaming for twenty years when I got my first NES and have been seriously collecting since 2002. I guess you could call me a Nintendo fanboy since my favorite systems are the NES and SNES.
Here are the systems I collect for:
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, GameBoy, Sega Master System, Genesis, Dreamcast, Atari 2600, 3DO, PSX

One of my favorite things to collect is strategy/game guides.

I started a group F.R.A.G. - Federation of Retro and Arcade Gamers - to be able to organize local events in southeastern Connecticut.

I have a wife and two kids, amazingly enough, even with this space devouring hobby.

Well, not that anyone will read (or care), but here goes:

My name is Steve, I'm 31 and I live in Austin, TX. I work at the University of Texas at Austin, and moved here from Ohio (but grew up in Syracuse, NY.) My username is Orrimarrko, which for anyone who knows way too much about Star Wars realizes that it's misspelled. That's intentional, because the correct spelling is almost always taken. For those who don't know, Orrimaarko (correct spelling) is the official name of the Star Wars character commonly known as "Prune Face". That's all I have to say about that...

I have been a gamer since the inception of video games, but was never into "video computers" like the Amiga or Commodore 64. Nothing against them, just not my bag. I distinctly remember busting out marathons of Pong, Super Pong and the like, just before heading to Chuck E. Cheese (back when it actually had video games in it!)

First system I owned was the Atari 2600, but since then I have owned at one time or another (the following consoles):

    1 Colecovision
    3 Atari 5200 systems (all 2 port)
5 NES systems (4 original style, 1 top loader)
3 Sega Genesis systems (1 original style, 2 Gen II)
3 Super Nintendo systems (all original style)
2 Sega CD systems (1 motorized, 1 top loader)
    1 32X system
    1 Sega CDX system
    3 3DO systems (2 motorized, 1 top loader)
    1 Neo-Geo AES
    2 Neo-Geo CD systems
    2 Sega Saturn systems
2 SONY Playstation systems (both original style)
2 Nintendo 64 systems (both original style)
3 Sega Dreamcast systems (2 original style, 1 "Sports" edition)
    1 SONY Playstation 2 system
    1 Nintendo Gamecube
    1 Microsoft X-Box
    1 Neo-Geo MVS Dedicated 6 - slot standup
    1 Nintendo Gameboy
1 Sega NOMAD (bought new for $29.99 at the time)
    1 Nintendo Gameboy Advance

Yes that is a lot, and yes I am an idiot... Over the past 7 years, I have decided to "collect video games" 4 separate times, this most recent being the fourth. The first 3 times were interrupted by the need for cash, and very sad days when the eBay beast took it all away.

Now, however, I am comfortable career-wise, the only thing (other than my wife) that would cause me to stop would be lack of interest. Not bloody likely!

Anyway, my long range goal is to have a complete (complete) set of video games for each US system. A very lofty and sure to be expensive goal, I know. How realistic it is, I have no idea.

Since I am collecting for all major systems, my rule of thumb is to look for cheap (complete) games, and search for bargains on the Hard to Find titles whenever I am able.

I currently have the following systems:

1 NES system ("Sports Set" Brand New in Box - never used)
1 SEGA Genesis system (Version 1)
    1 SEGA CD system (front-loading 1st version)
1 SEGA SATURN (Brand New - never used)
1 SONY Playstation system (original style)
1 Nintendo 64 system (original style) - TRU Excl. w/Light Green controller
1 Sega Dreamcast system (original style)
    1 SONY Playstation 2 system
    1 Nintendo Gamecube
    1 Microsoft X-Box
1 Neo-Geo MVS Dedicated 6 - slot standup (my baby!)
    1 Nintendo Gameboy Advance

Carts and games and discs too many to list. I appreciate the information that people are willing to share on this board. I have never really paid much attention to message boards, so this is my first. I have to say it's been cool so far. I happened upon this forum from a link on Google, so I guess I just got lucky.

Anyway, I hope to learn from those who know a lot more than I, but look forward to talking more about games in the future.

    Take care!
    Steve

After many months on this board, it's time to finally do this...

My name is Todd. I live in Boston (Roslindale). I'm 30 and work as a researcher in mental health for a university, but am also in school to get my Masters of Library and Information Science.

I mainly collect for the 2600, 5200, and Vectrex, but also am on the look out for SMS, 7800, Intellivision, and Colecovision carts.

Other interests: Old Vespa and Lambretta motorscooters—working on them, riding them, crashing them...

    Hey guys,
I'm Billy from New Orleans. Long time lurker, first time poster. I haven't really been a collector until I found this board. Reading all the posts about the classic systems really brought back some great memories. I'm 33, and remember when the Atari 2600 was the next big thing. Anyway, I hope to start collecting soon as soon as I make some room. I have a tiki mug collection that needs to make way!

    Hello All,

My name is Ken and I'm from Kentucky. I've been "in to" video games since my dad brought home a Coleco Pong back in the day before we had a color TV (like it would have mattered with a Pong system). I had no idea what a "Pong" was and am very glad my dad introduced me to video games. Now at 35, I still play and still collect, although I've had to sell my entire collection many times over in order to survive (except the Pong, which I still have in the box with instructions ). Now with a steady job, I hope to built my collection back to its former glory. I'm an archaeologist and no, it's not as fun as you would think. Before being an archaeologist, I was in retail management for nearly 12 years (ugh). I stumbled upon DP by accident while being bored at work, ordered the guide, and now I'm hooked. I'm a little shy with new people and hesitant to post more until I know everyone better (just me being shy). Currently on an XBOX kick for some reason. Glad to be here.

started gaming: well, it's a long story, but i was 7 or 8, my mom gave me my laundry, a shopping cart, some qyarters, and sent me out the door, 6 long blocks away to domesticate myself somewhat. there was a pinball machine in the laundry, and the rest is history...

collecting since: well, sporadically, in the early 80's- sold off/gave away all of it (about 200 or so 2600 games and a load of nintendo game/watches- some pretty rare, although i didn't realize it then!!!). started again late '91 or so with some master system stuff, but i really picked up steam about '95 or so. currently about 26-2700 games, give or take a few (i keep saying i'll count them, but i keep getting distracted when i do, and the counting session turns into a marathon of gaming). i'm posting a partial list on ign, but it's gonna be WAY short, as i don't have the time to correct and add stuff to their database for them, lol...

systems and add-ons i own/collect for: yeesh, here goes:
3DO, nes, snes, n64, game boy (all), game cube, famicom, super famicom, famicom disk, sufami turbo, sms, mark III*, genesis, mega drive, sega cd, mega cd, game gear, saturn, dreamcast, ps one, ps2, xbox, jaguar, jag cd*, turbo grafx-16/turbo express, duo, pc-engine, pc-engine duo, fm towns marty, vectrex, neo-geo pocket, wonderswan, supervision, pc (mostly DOS and windows 95/98 stuff, cd-i, and i have a colecovision (and one game which i haven't played in years, lol). i may be missing a few systems here, but i can always edit later...
(* means i have games, but ha-ha-haaaaa, no system to play them on- it happens...)

found the forums through: another long story- i used to self-publish a fanzine called Continue? a few years back, sent a copy to joe, who put me on the back cover of an issue of DP, and i got a few more readers than i expected. so i sort of kept in touch on and off over the years, always wanting to do SOMETHING for DP, but i couldn't put my finger on what...so it's great of joe to actually give me a shot here, and i'm hoping to be around for a while!

hobbies: well, lessee now...gaming, writing about games, studying the 'language" of gaming, playing games. also, baking, art, thinking too much, occasionally attempting to learn the guitar, japanese, french, and a few other languages, and trying to locate some gal who can put up with all this...

if you need any more info, it'll cost ya five bucks...
