    Hello,

My nick name is Shompola and my name is Sherman.
What I do? I am a CS student. A couple of years worth of school work left.

25 years old living in Sweden. Been exposed to videogames since I tried out Pong at a friends birthday party for the first time. Later on I was introduced to the Atari 2600 - What a wonderful system.

I am a big shmup fan and virtually play any sort of shmup and enjoy them. But so far Megadrive/Genesis is my favorite console for shmups and my all time favorite console to date.

    Right now I have:

    Atari 2600(the second version?)
    NES
    BootLeg Famicom, a green one.
    GB
    GBC
    SMS MK II
Megadrive Jpn from 1989-1990. <- So far it can read any games I have tried with our without converter.
    Multimega(the CDX in Europe)
    Snes
    Playstation
    N64
    Dreamcast
    Gamecube

How I found this place? I searched for shmup+ezboard on google and found it. Pretty luck

    Default Hi all!

Hi! My name is John, I from Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada (just outside Vancouver), Im 34, and I love retro gaming since I bought my first Atari 2600.

I enjoy collecting carts for it (up over 200 now) and other old gaming stuff pre nintendo.

I also enjoy Arcade gaming via an emulator (MAME) which I find alot of fun.

Ill probably die with a joystick in hand and burried with my games.

    Hi everyone

My name is Jon, I'm 31 years old, live in the UK, and am married with a baby daughter. I work as a college administrator. I've been visiting the DP site for years .. finally got around to registering today.

I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, and have been actively collecting them since 1995.

My favourite system is the Colecovision (I contributed to the Coleco section of the new DP Guide). I am now just one cart away from having a complete set of the released games - the one game I still need is It's Only Rock & Roll, so if anyone wants to trade or sell me one, do get in touch

Once I've got my hands on that one, I'll be aiming to get all the boxes and manuals I don't already have (I probably have about 70% of them at the moment).

I also collect carts for the Vectrex, Atari 2600, Atari 8-bit computers, Megadrive (Genesis), SNES and N64. I also have a Playstation, Dreamcast and Gamecube.

    My favourite games are

    Antarctic Adventure (Colecovision)
    Minestorm (Vectrex)
    Demon Attack (Atari 2600)
    Spy Hunter (Atari 8-bit)
    Tetris Attack (SNES)
    Wave Race (N64)
    Monkey Ball (Gamecube)
Flicky (Genesis) - my favourite game of all time
    Samba de Amigo (Dreamcast)
    PaRappa the Rapper (Playstation)

Oh, and before I forget, my website is here:
    http://www.geocities.com/j.legg

    Cheers
    Jon

    Default Gulag PIcture Radio intro

    Hiya,

My name is Bohus (BOH-hoosh) in real life. I met Joe Santulli over the weekend and he got me to join this board! I'll be 31 in a month and I got into videogames in 1982 or so when I won a local contest and first prize was an Atari 2600. I've never been terribly good at throwing things away so I've kept my 2600 all these years.

In high school, newer games were off my radar (heck, my family only got a color TV a few years earlier), and lots of my friends just gave me their old Atari stuff as they upgraded to the NES. I was still playing Atari in college alongside my Amiga computer (the Amiga is such a fantastic gaming machine that I never felt the need to pick up a dedicated console).

I had amassed such a pile of 2600's that I put on a massive Atari Party in 1994 or so. All three floors of my house were running Atari. We ran out of TV sets, but were still entertained by several bands and Warlords Arena- four Atari's side by side with 16 people playing elimination rounds of Warlords until we declared The Warlord.

Throughout college and later, I discovered the miracle of thrifts and picked lots of other consoles for next to nothing. I think that my friends got sick of playing old games, so they got me a Dreamcast- my introduction to advanced gaming. I love the DC way more than I thought I would.

I don't collect for any particular system obsessivly. Mostly I have Atari 2600 stuff, but I have pretty healthy collections of Intellivision, Coleco, Odyssey 2, and Sega Master System. Nothing rare or of much value. I mostly like weird games- stuff that's far off the beaten path like the SMS 3D games, or Caution Seaman on DC. Anything that shows imagination.

My favorite games are 2600 Kaboom!, Synthcart, Warlords, Pitfall 2, Freeway, and Kool-Aid Man. On the Dreamcast they're Seaman, Samba De Amigo, Jet Grind Radio, and Crazy Taxi. On Game Boy, it's the Camera cart.

As for a job, I have my own production company for television & film. Mostly I make corporate and educational videos that no one wants to see, but that's all changing this fall- got some interesting jobs coming up. The only thing of mine that anyone might have seen is a commercial that I did for American Science & Surplus in Chicago.

I do a lot of writing as well, both technical and creative. I have a regular spot in a popular Chicago-based webmagazine, but used to enjoy having columns in newsstand print magazines some years back.

I also play music- that's what "Gulag Picture Radio" is... the name of my "group". I've played piano for years, but find myself wheezing away at the accordion and cheap Casio keyboards lately. I also LOVE the music cart for Atari- "Synthcart". I can safely say that Paul Slocum's cartridge has totally changed my life. I've also got the homebrew music carts for Game Boy and the music synthesizer add-on for Intellivision.

If any of you are fans of "Baldur's Gate", I did some voices for some popular homebrew expansion packs that just came out. I don't play the game, I just engineered most of the sound and added a few voices to the main game. I do voiceover work from time to time and would love to get into the game world with sound editing and voice work.

Oh, and I have a "Carnevil" arcade cabinet (because one of my best friends did all of the background graphics for the game) and an old "Cleopatra" pinball. I'm not rich, I just know how to garbagepick at the right time. Oh, and I paid WAY too much for an Atari Video Music once... it's heaven.

Yeesh, this turned out long. Hope that I can prove interesting enough in the future to be worthy of this much space!

    Hi, everyone.

My name is Matt and I'm new here. I've been reading posts for awhile, though. Let's see, where to begin? I'm 20 years old and I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I collect games for the NES mainly, but also the Genesis, SNES, Playstation, Game Gear, Game Boy, Neo Geo Pocket, and most recently, Atari 2600.

As a kid, I was infatuated with video games and devoted almost all of my spare time to them (what was left of it went to comic books). But, as I got older I sort of grew out of them. This was honestly probably due to the fact that I didn't want to be considered a nerd. About a year and a half ago, however, I got to play a Playstation and was reminded of what I was missing. I dug out all of my old systems which had been collecting dust in my closet and hooked them up. The first one I wanted to play again was the NES, my favorite system as a kid and my current favorite today. Next thing I knew, I was hitting up all of the flea markets, pawn shops, and garage sales in my area in an attempt to find all of the games that brought me happiness as a child. But, I couldn't stop there. You know what I'm talking about. The whole collecting thing is very addicting. I'm now broke and have since turned my girlfriend onto the whole thrift store/garage sale scouring lifestyle as well.

Aside from collecting games, I collect records (mainly hardcore punk and some metal, but none of that radio crap) and play in a band. Audio recording is also a hobby of mine. I love to cook (vegetarian food, that is) and I love to travel. Hopefully, I'll be a welcome addition to the boards.

    Hello,

My name is Scott and I live in Surprise Arizona.

I do not remember how I found this forum but I have been around for years now.

I can't say I really have a favorite type of game. Just any game that is fun.

I am trying to focus on collecting Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Odyssey 2 and Intellivision. But I will not pass on a good deal for any system.

In "real life" I am a computer tech at a medical college

I began collecting sometime in 1999-2000. I have always had my Genesis. I then got a Playstation and Dreamcast. I then took back an Intellivision from my brother (we had it since I was a kid).
Then my Grandma gave me a Atari 2600 Vader model with about 70 games.

Talk to you in the forums.

I'm Melanie Hoyle, aka geekgirl101. I'm 24 and from Stockport in England. I don't have a job yet, love to have one. I specialise in web design and run a couple of game community sites.

I found these forums after I got an email to update the link to this board on the VGS webring.

I'm a die-hard Dizzy fan and have my very own Dizzy shrine right next to me. Pictures to follow. I also collect Blitz Games and other retro games produced by the Oliver Twins. For some strange reason I collect Final Fantasy games too, even though I'm not overall keen on it. Must be because I have a Seiken Densetsu fansite....

I'd list all the systems I currently own, although I don't want to take up too much space on this page if I do so.

As for what I do outside the four walls, I go to church, Linux user groups, the occassional nightclub and geek bar, any local cannabis campaigns, and Greenbelt (a Christian rock festival for all those who didn't watch Songs of Praise last week , and for those who did you were greatly mislead. )
What would people think when they hear that I'm a Dizzy freak....

Hello. I have been reading these message boards for some time now and really never had anything to add. I always said if I found something in the wild that is *really* worth braging about, I would post it in the "weekly finds" post. I thought I would introduce myself first. Male, 26 from Alabama. Anybody else from 'Bama? I collect for NES, 2600 and Virtual Boy.
