hey everybody, my name is justin. i'm 26 and married for about a year and a half from north carolina and i'm an elementary school teacher. i also coach church league basketball and work part time some at the local ebgames. i started collecting kind of aimlessly around 2001 and it slowed way down around my junior year in college. but now since i graduated in 2004 my collecting has become a definant obsession. i have an snes, n64, ps1, ps2, dreamcast, gamecube, xbox, xbox 360, sega genesis, and sega 32X. i own around a total of 350 games most of which are for the snes (112 games). my goal is to own a 3DO, Jaguar, sega saturn, and basically every 8 bit system. i want to try to have a complete sega 32x library and then go from there. i'd love to own a couple arcade machines. anyway, i love the website.

    Red face

    - Who you are
    Evan, age 19.

    - Where you live
Washington, DC ... The Catholic University of America.
    - How you found the forums
A friend showed me the site a while back. I also visited the store a few times, and even went to one of the meetings. The store is great, and so is the site. I try to avoid this site cause I spend hours on it, and I need to focus on my studies now haha.

    - What your favorite games are
I always have trouble with this one. Hmm... lets do it this way.

Favorite RPG: Final Fantasy IV or Fable, depending what mood I'm in.
Favorite Platformer: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or Super Mario 64
Favorite 1st Person Shooter: DOOM series, although Gears of War is already in a close second.
Favorite Adventure Game: Dungeons and Dragons for the Intellivision! haha
Favorite Sports Game: Mutant League Football or Tecmo Bowl, depending.
Favorite PC Game: Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights, or Diablo. I still can't choose.

    - What systems you collect for
Currently? None. I'm a full-time college student now. But before I went to school, I was collecting for all the Sega consoles. I have plans in the future to expand my NES and SNES collection.

    - What you do in "real life"
Whoops, answered that already. I'm a full-time student here at CUA, and I also work part-time at GameStop.

    - Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started collecting after I was given the family IBM PC in the early 90s just to play games on. I became obsessed with the computer, and how it worked. So now, I'm really interested in vintage computers, which isn't really 100% compatible (pardon the pun) with retro video games.

I've read some of your introductions, and I can honestly say this is my favorite forum right now.
    Genesis does what Nintendon't.

    Hello!

My name is John & I`m 30 years old. I live in Wisconsin with my fiance & my 10 month old son. Hopefully he`ll appreciate the games when he gets older. I collect for quite a few systems, but I`m mainly working on the NES right now. I build industrial gas & electric generators for oil pumps, hospitals & all kinds of other things. These engines are huge! I`ve been told that if you were to run one of these engines non-stop, it would be well over 1,000,000 miles before it shutdown. Crazy when you compare to a car!

I found this site basically by chance just searching the web. I may have heard of it once before that. I just hope it`s up & running for good now! Well, chat with you later guys!

    John

My name is George and I live in Gainesville Florida. I have posted on this board before under a different name but not that often. I couldnt get my login stuff back for it but I figured I would just start fresh. I'm here mostly to gather information and ask questions. I own around 700 games for various systems and the collection is still growing. If you ever want to know anything about me just ask.

    Default Not exactly new... BUT

Since I have actually started posting, I thought it was about time to actually introduce myself.

Well...I have been a lurker since September/October. I FINALLY decided to join a bit ago. I randomly found the site via search engine! (the modern world, I tell ya)

I am doing Atari things. I got interested in Atari, on a suggestion from someone I used to know. I had Pong and O2 growing up, but haven't really done much of anything, since I was about 12. I have had limited experience with SDC and PS2. I am not really a "gamer." But, I spent countless hours at the laundromat playing Galaga, Centipede, and Asteroids...but other than that really not much else.

I just recently got my first Atari 800, and I look forward to doing what I can with it. I have been toying with my emulator for a few months now, playing games....so far, I seriously suck, but it is fun nonetheless.

Alright... now for the GOOD part! (yeah right) Okay, well I am 34 (soon to be 35) year old female. I have spent almost my entire life in NW Texas. I am divorced (about 10 years now) and have no children (although I am going to be an aunt soon). I have been working for 7 years for a telephone relay service for the deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired. I have done a stint volunteering with Prevent Blindness Texas South Plains/Panhandle division.
I am into a bunch of different things.

I read a lot, write a lot (as you can probably tell), researching many different subjects, listening to music, chatting, cars, computers, chess, SLEEP. I hang out in the #atari channel over on IRC. Basically, I am a jill of all trades... mistress of none!

I think this probably covers anything anyone would WANT to know about me... and probably stuff no one really cares about. BUT, if you have any questions or just wanna chit-chat... feel free to PM me or find me on IRC.

Name is Mark. 36 and married with a kid due any second (new little gamer!). I'm a technology architect at a "very large software company"(tm) ;-) Been a lurker on the site and a customer of the store for a while, but figured since I started posting I might as well intro.

Been gaming forever and pretty much collect everything. I'm more into collecting systems than games though, and usually just keep a representative sample of the "best stuff" for the platform.

Favorite games are Everquest 1&2 (addiction), WoW (lesser addicition), FEAR, Half Life 2, Gears of War and Resistance (those two have been a HUGE pleasant surprise for me and are just awesome).

Hi I'm Blake G. of Texas.
I found the forums thanks to my friend Matt (Goomba24).
I'm new at this old video game collecting thing and I would like to start collecting atari 2600 games and nes games.
Well in "real life" I got to school and make great grades (I'm on the basketball team by the way) and just collect and play video games.
I began collecting after my grandfather died. My grandma let me have his old systems, and thats how I grew to love old video games. So It Is Very Nice To Be Here!

Hi everyone, name's Ar and I'm a 22 years old gamer from Spain. I found the website through a spanish message board.

My favourite systems are Sega Megadrive (which was my very first system), SNES, Dreamcast and the Sony consoles. I collect games from a lot of systems and I'm trying to make a complete Pal DC collection (PS1 & PS2 are too big for me). I'd like to get my hands into some dev stuff too. My favourite (and recent) games are HL saga, Mafia, Oblivion, PoP and Fahrenheit. On my retro side almost all Capcom games for SNES, Sonic, Another World, Shinobi and the Disney games for MD.

In real life I'm in my 5th year in Medicine, hoping to finish next year. I love reading and I'm an average artist

    Hello all!
My name is Mark, and I'm new here. It's 1:00AM in the morning and I stumbled across this website while looking for information about spotting resealed games. It seems like a place I wouldn't mind calling home, since I've recently plunged into the collecting scene.

I live in New Hampshire. It's a pretty decent place--and contrary to popular belief, we're not all hicks. I'm attending the University of New Hampshire because I followed a girl there. It definitely wasn't my first choice, but the girl is worth it.

I love RPGs, from popular ones (such as Final Fantasy) to more obscure and (in my opinion) underrated games like Azure Dreams and Quest 64.

I've recently decided to start collecting PSX games exclusively for the next few years until I've sufficiently built a collection--then I plan to move on to PS2 games. I'll most likely skip PS3 (I don't like the way this current generation is shaping up) and move onto another CD-Based system.

I'm a perfectionist and starting a collection of games that I can go back to years down the road was more or less just a natural progression for me. The thought of having an expansive library of old games gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

In 'real life' I'm constantly trying to better myself through reading, exercising, and meditation while I attend school. I'm going to find a job next semester since I'll be moving in with my girlfriend and our two puppies. My current major is English but I'm changing it to Computer Science (weird, huh?)

Apologies for such a dry dissertation. Like I said, it's late and my brain is a bit scattered. Bottom line is I'm really looking forward to participating in a community that enjoys collecting as much as I do.
"Men doth not yield himself to the angels, nor unto death utterly, save only through the weakness of his feeble will."

Hi all, been lurking around for awhile and decided to join finally. Wish I could visit the brick and mortar store but due to being on the other coast its impossible. Luckily I found another store I like in San Diego called Luna Retro games. Great little store to keep my hobby going. Well just wanted to say hi.

    - Who you are
    Hello all, I'm Eric! ^_^

    - Where you live
    Toledo, OH

    - How you found the forums
I was looking for online rarity guides and found this site.

    - What your favorite games are
I love so many games it's ridiculous, but my favorite game ever is more than likely Chrono Trigger.

    - What systems you collect for
A lot! Atari, Intellivision, Master System, NES, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, SNES, PS1, Saturn, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Game Boy, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, Game Boy Advance, DS...I mostly focus on the classic consoles though.

    - Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started playing video games with my father's Intellivision, back around when I was two or so. I began playing as soon as I could hold a controller in my hands. Ever since then, I've been addicted to gaming. More recently, I've begun to get serious about collecting although I've amassed a decent collection just from being a gamer over the years.

    - Where you live
    Columbus, GA USA
    - How you found the forums
I found the forums while searching for info on game rarity.
    - What your favorite games are
Unreal Tournament (PC), Street Fighter II (SNES), basically anything street fighter!
    - What systems you collect for
SNES, N64, GENESIS, DREAMCAST, PSX, PS2, SATURN, even PC. Just starting though, only a couple hundred items total.
    - What you do in "real life"
I am a flash designer and future college student. Saving up right now!
    - Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started collecting strictly for sentimental purposes, I became excited a few years ago when I realized that all the games that brought me endless hours of enjoyment in my youth were available for my purchasing pleasure by way of eBay. Hence began my quest to complete a collection of nostalgic entertainment electronics. My biggest and most proud find yet was when I snagged a copy of Final Fantasy VII GH in a KMART a year ago. Boy, the memories!

    - Who you are
    Dave
    - Where you live
    Toronto, ON
    - How you found the forums
I was having nostalgic video game memories (as i sometimes tend to have) and I searched "blockbuster video game championships" in Yahoo and I it linked me to a thread someone started here pertaining to the competition back in 94 and 95, the golden days of gaming in my opinion.
    - What your favorite games are
I am not a big gamer now a days (despite the fact in a home of a lot of people we have a xbox 360, ps3, nintendo WII and the list goes on) but out of the handful of games I play now a days - Socom, I have played this series since it was released back in 2002 I truely believe this is the first time I have been hooked to a video since mortal kombat/street fighter days!. So I play socom 1, 2 , and Combined Assault, Any sports titles, sports compact racing games, once in a while call of duty 3 and I believe that is it.
    - What systems you collect for
PS3, XBOX 360, Nintendo WII, NES, Sega Master System, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, N64, PSX, 3DO, Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX, GameCube, various other..
    - What you do in "real life"
Currently working in a huge office performing computer maintenance, software upgrades and going to college for marketing.
    - Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I mostly collect SNES related material I was the video game guru in my area growing up in the 90s as a teen, nobody could defeat me I have received competition cartridges from blockbuster to special nintendo Star Fox cartridges because of me being so good and being rewarded not only money, prizes, trips but the cartidges themselves i kicked BUTT on back in the day.

I am thinking of starting a retro gaming site dedicated soley to the invididuals who cannot find information, images, videos of the 90's gaming era, especially when it comes to competitions, because gaming is strong in this new generation but it's not the same as it used to be. The site will help relive memories of how it was to be a kid, how thrilling it was to compete store to store, nation wide and so forth, just a fun site for people as myself who feel the years just went by in hyper speed, lol.

    - Who you are
I'm AVE aka aventus or even hoerny sometimes. Don't confuse with "horny".^^

    - Where you live
Germany, land of endless laws restricting video games. Well, what is internet for? Getting forbidden DVDs and Games

    - How you found the forums
I know the Digit Press page for a couple of years now (BTW I think the old "Room of Doom" section was better, although it were less pictures) and always wandered around in the RoD-section. A few days ago, a friend linked me to a discussion with Adol and thats how I finally ended up here

    - What your favorite games are
There are lots of games I like and that I have played a lot, so I can't really answer that question in a satisfying way
    I'll try anyway:

    Shenmue
    Gradius (all versions)
    ESPGaluda
    dodonpachi DAI-OU-JOU
    Ikaruga
    Super Star Soldier
    Lylat Wars (StarFox 64)
    Halo
    Resident Evil 4
GTA 1, Vice City and San Andreas

    Those will do

    - What systems you collect for
In general all SEGA-systems and ALL japanese games/hardware. Unfortunately, such an interest is hard to afford for a student

    - What you do in "real life"
When I'm not busy with collecting video games, I study japanese or even for school which I don't normally.

    - Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
The start of my japanophilia was -of course- a japanese video game. I bought Soul Calibur for 9$ at play-asia because it was cheaper than the PAL-Version. What a mistake. I fell in love with the japanese letters, spine-cards and general style (orange/white) immediately. All in all, thats how that whole thing started (collecting japanese games/systems, learning japanese, travelling to Japan...) =)

    - Who you are:

Hi, I'm 20 years and on the most german boards, I'm just "retro" ^^

    - Where you live:

    I live in NRW/Germany

    - How you found the forums:

I was the one who gave the guy in the posting above, the link with the Adol discussion. I just heard about it, from another collector and then looked up the forums.

    - What your favorite games are:

    Hmm favourite games...

    I guess

    - Resident Evil 2 (psx)
    - Castlevania Symphony of the Night (psx)
    - Super Castlevania 4 (snes)
    - Super Metroid (snes)
    - Akumajo Dracula Chi no Rondo (pce)
    - Street Fighter 2 Turbo (snes)
    - Mega Man X (snes)
    - Super Mario World (snes)

there are so much more games to mention, but this would take too much space.

I love the Castlevania, Resident Evil and Mega Man series, and all sorts of shooters and survival horror games.

    - What systems you collect for

I collect for almost every system, except the newer stuff like ps2,ngc,xbox,360....

Actually, I haven't fixed myself on something special. I'm doing a Castlevania collection, and after that, I'm trying to get alle the must-have titles for each system. Sometimes I even buy trash games which i actually dont' need. ^^

    - What you do in "real life"

Currently I'm doing some sort of "coummunity service". After that I will finally go to the university.

    - Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

About 5 years ago, when there allready was the ps2 era, I somehow managed to get out my old and first system ever, the Game Boy, and I fell into some sort of nostalgic trip. I startet to collect every Game Boy game I was able to find and with the time it started with other systems like the SNES, which is still my absolute favourite system.
As I stumbled over the old Room of Doom website years ago, it gave me also some pushes and I startet to spent all my money on systems, games and merchandise stuff. Well, until today ^^
