3 all the way. 1 and X would be my runner-ups. I don't care for the new rehashed ones, and 2 has too much slowdown.

I'm picking 5, because 5 had sweet music, and the walking tank was awesome. Plus sliding brought something new to the table.

    Ah, the power of persuasion.

I voted for MS3 myself. It's my favorite for the many multiple paths, some of the more innovative vehicles (like the elephant), the helper monkey Utan, some of the most impressive enemies and bosses in the entire series, and that last mission is a freaking epic! It's long enough to make an entire vintage NES game out of!

Damn, and I just finish making my own poll. Oh well, guess somebody just going to lock it. Anyways i'm going with 3, because IMO it was the pinnacle of the series before playmore basically ruined it.

I'd hardly call adding a slide in 5 ruining it

3 is by far the best with the original at a close second

I gotta go with MS1, with MS3 and MSX tied for second place. Slug 3 definitely kills anything in over-the-topness and multiple paths, but the gameplay of Slug 1 is so refined (aside from the boss-grenade exploit) that it has yet to be topped. It's also the perfect length... I feel Slug 3 is too long to play through that often. MSX is kind of a nice balance in between 1 and 3.

3 is by far the best with the original at a close second
Isn't that kind of a contradiction?

    I picked Metal Slug 3.

We're talking about the Metal Slug games on Neo Geo hardware and not any or those ports on one of those lesser consoles like the PlayStation or the Xbox, right?

    Not at all!

I also agree with that statement. First Slug game I saw was the original, soon after it came out, but the best one has been 3 all along.
