    Default PayPal problems

What does one do if you had an account years ago, you forget the username and everything, and can't use the same Account #?

I tried making a new account, but it's coming back that there's already an account with that number, and I think it's the account that's years old. Is this a 'Call Paypal" thing?

P.S. I'm quite aware of the whole "PayPal is evil" thing. Save the rants for another topic.

Just e-mail Paypal and explain the situation. See what they can do about it.

Paypal are very helpful and have your best interests at heart.

That - and they have been the subject of a class action lawsuit over the last couple of years...

I had a problem once where I changed the bank account which was tied to my account and the # I was given by the bank did not have any of the 0's that were at the beginning of the # (IE the number was "001" and they just told me it was "1")... After a couple of withdrawals "bounced" (and I was charged a $30 fee for each!) I called PP and went over the problem.

It turns out that they do not have staff who are given clearance to actually change or modify your bank account #'s and such... you have to do it yourself. I couldn't update my number because their software "believed" that the "new" number I was inputting was the same as the old and I would get an error message when trying to change it...

In the end I was advised to set up a new account, transfer the balance over to the new account and then close the old one...

Call them and they should be able to figure it out for you.. if not, you can say that at least you tried.
