    Default saving on the Saturn

Ok, I'm a moron but, how do you save on a Sega Saturn? I assume you need a Memory card? How easy are these to get? Do they go in the Cartride input? If not what does? Mega Drive games?, Master System games won't fit I tried them. I don't have a Mega Drive so I can't test if they fit or not.

But graphics, even in 8 colors, are poor. Concerning the PAC-MAN cover for example, all you can see is squares running after a cross... wow, that is almost virtual reality!

The Saturn has a limited amount of internal memory so you may be able to get by with that if you don't plan on saving a lot at once. There are save cartridges you can get which do indeed go in the cartridge slot. You can look around...there's always eBay and perhaps some online shops still stock them.

There are memory cards for the slot. the saturn also has a wee bit of onboard memory. The battery mey be dead for it. You need a CR2032 battery. It pops into the hatch in the back, then it will remember what time it is too!

Saturn has internal system memory, as well as first and third party memory carts. If your saturn's internal battery is dead, replace it. Memory carts do go into the slot, it won't take master system or genny/MD carts, though. Memory carts aren't that hard to get, but it's always a little trickier to find official ones.

(In theory, it might take ST-V arcade carts but I wouldn't know, probably not)

edit: alright guys, triple team combo information attack!

hey omnedon did you give my saturn i had you fix up a battery door? I seem to have a spare one ever since I got it back from you.

Allright thanks guys I think I need a new internal battery. I'll get one (and hunt for a mem card) after I move (in three weeks)

I think my cartridge does two things if I remember correctly. Besides working as a memory card, I believe it also lets me play imports...

Is it a 4-in-1 action replay? They have indirect saves (you have to transfer from system memory), cheating, import loading, and 1m/4m cart functionality. however the saves are compressed which can lead to issues (although mine has yet to).

apparently there is cheat/import devide that does support the direct saving on Saturn. read my impression on this device over assembler forum HERE.

and direct save backup memory cart with x10 the size of official cart.

no idea where you can get thes ones other than in Japan...

Wow, a little cheat search controller, that's pretty freakin cool. Direct save would be nice too, but I have an official so I'm good. I'm paranoid and have like three copies of my rayearth save though.
