I'm proud to say the NES was my first console. I still have my original machine but sadly I've lost most of my games (I've lent them to a "friend" who never returned them), including stuff like boxed, Turtles, Contra, Castlevania, Bubble Bobble and other stuff I love. I still get angry when I think about it...

I don't now when I exactly got my NES and which package it was (I think it was the console and two pads without any game included). All I remembe is that it was when my mom got a payment from an assurance because our cave was flooded.

It was my first console, my uncle got it for my sister and I back in 86. It was the Mario, Duck Hunt, World Class Track meet set. I played that thing to DEATH. My faves were (and still are): All the Mario's of course, Bionic Commando, Wizards and Warriors, Snake Rattle and Roll, ZELDA, man really a hell of a lot. Sadly, when the SNES came out my mon said the only way i would get it for christmas, was if i gave it to some family friends kids. Well i agreed (i was in 3rd grade and i wanted an SNES!) and it went to the family friends. They ended up selling it and some of the games at a garage sale. About 6 years ago they came across the games they didnt sell and gave them to me. But i have already replaced the NES (Still have the SNES) with a complete Action Set off of Ebay.

Yep, the NES was my very first console, and only console until something like 96-97 when I finally got a SNES. I got my NES in 1987-88 for christmas and got Zelda II, Life Force, Top Gun, Mario Bros/Duck Hunt, and some other game that I can't quite remember. Man that was teh best christmas ever.

    Nope. Atari 5200 here. I didn't get a NES until '97, when I scored a brand new top-loader for $.99!

ahh yes....my first console was my lovely NES.acutelly my parents bought it for me since i couldn't play any sports, or do a lot of activities when i was young (for any doctors out there i had to have a transpostion of the the main ateries at age 2, so i was to say the least very active when i was young). and that system still stays ontop of my entertaiment stand, and forever will be my fav. system.

Well it was not my first system, but it was the first system I paid for with my own money.

I remember the NES WAS MY very first console. I used to clean the thing weekly in a big long drawn out process.

NES was #3 for me, Odyssey2 and Atari 2600 being #1 and #2, respectively. NES was the first console I paid for myself though -- the others were gifts.

Got my NES in '87 or '88 (can't remember exactly). It was the el cheapo set that came with just the console, control pads, and Super Mario Bros. Didn't have a Zapper, but I didn't care -- as long as I had SMB, I was happy.

Yup, the NES was my first console. I received at the tail end of the summer of 1987 at the age of 11.

My sister did however have an Atari 2600 VCS. I never really played it too much though and the only games I really remember were Lock & Chase, Pac-man, and....ET. I just remember hating the joysticks on the Atari. To this day I think the NES digital pad is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I'm definately one of the Nintendo generation. (Yep, I'm a young 'un.) It was really more for my brother than for me, but as he grew out of it I grew into it.

Im old my first Game system was the Atari 2600 but I didnt catch my videogame addiction until I got my NES one very blossomy special Xmas I remember my older cousin hooking it up for me and practically the entire family tried out SuperMario bros.

All this on a High-tech 13inch COLOR TV.

I remember telling my friends how awesome the graphix were and how it killed anything on the old Atari feels like a hundred years ago.

RCA Studio II was our family's first, sometime during 1984 or so when the thing was completely and totally a bargain-bin item. We got it from our next-door neighbors' garage sale, after they had upgraded to an Atari 2600. (And the neighbor across the street had an Intellivision II, so I got a pretty good fix when I was young.)

Our NES Challenge Set (with SMB/Duck Hunt and a Zapper gun) came during 1987 - I don't remember exactly when, though I think it was during the fall, and on a school night even!

Dad picked up Ring King at the same time, thinking it'd be a game he might enjoy. As it turned out, he became the family instructor in all things related to shooting pixelated enemies/objects on a TV screen. (To this day, he still enjoys the occasional game of Time Crisis, but I have not yet introduced him to the joys of Virtua Cop on the Saturn - I need another gun for that first.)

Mom played a little SMB when we first got it, but never got any higher than 1-4 or so before falling to Bowser's minions. At which point we'd gladly take over...

Then came the Genesis in 1991 (with Sonic and Quackshot), followed at regular intervals by whatever system my brother and I deemed worthy of acceptance.

Now I embrace everything, of course, but our original NES toaster still holds a prized place in my room o' doom.

Yes, the NES was my first system. I actually remember being HELD while we were inside the store buying an NES with Super Mario Bros. (I'm 18 now). I think my mom also said I used to freak out at certain points in SMB and asked my brother to get past the hard parts.

    More stuff I remember:

The first time I ever played Tetris, it was Tengen Tetris at my mom's friend's house. I realized this years later (after I had started collecting) when I played Nintendo Tetris and noticed the difference

My dad playing SMB3 in the middle of the night and getting excited because he reached Giant World before anyone else

Getting a Super Nintendo for Christmas with SMW (and having no idea how to turn it on)

    Good times
