Joe, i was flipping through the new T&T magazine and reading your article briefly on Genesis Game Collecting. I'm buying the issue tommorrow but was wondering how you figured on the A-list and the rareist games to find.

How? It's done through research. I have a number of Genesis collector contacts (and consider myself among them); Lots of time spent checking out prices in various stores (Etlers' Video Game Connections was a big help), seeing what is and isn't frequently appearing on eBay, that kind of thing. If you remember, we had a discussion on these forums as well. In fact, if you read the column, you'll see that once again the forums here are credited with the assist!Originally Posted by Kaine23

The A-list failed to include Phantasy Star IV. In response, I'm never buying T&T again, not even if it includes guides to Xenosaga, Dot Hack, and Guilty Gear X-2 in the same issue.
I'll likely buy the issue tommorrow and I'll read it more in-depth.

It's a rarity list, not a popularity list - and certainly not an overpriced gaming list. Sorry. I kept everything from our data that was a 6 or higher. PS4 didn't make the cut. Any game that's appeared 32 times in the last month on eBay shouldn't be considered *rare* even if the seller says it is.Originally Posted by Kid Fenris

Oh, and if you mean the smaller box of "the Good", sorry if I left your favorite game out! There wasn't enough space to list all the really good ones. Next time I'll ask for an extra page!
I don't like any of the current mags out there, with the exception of Play because of its unique-ness and great paper quality. I never gave T&T time of day until I learned of your column Joe. Now I pick it up to read over that (it lasts about 3 minutes). It's cool to read about folks you know, and I see Game Informer has started doing it too.
I just got the new issue in the mail.Another great one Joe!It has new "rare" modern games to be!Must......read.......more....
What started the retro sections first though: T&T or GI?

I don't know the answer to this but MY column isn't a "retro section". It's a collector's column. Which is why you see things like Dreamcast and even recent games for modern systems that may be collectible some day appear there every month.Originally Posted by Kaine23
I'm picking up the issue today actually to read it a bit better. Great job on another column.

While we're discussing Joe's T&T articles, let me just say thanks for the NUON article a few months back. Always good to see the little DVD player that could (or couldn't) get some attention

I may hold off buying that issue because I finally subscribed to T&T and if I buy it, I know I'll wind up getting the same issue about 2 days later as the first issue of my subscription! I recently subscribed to GamePro and in the last week I received two different issues...both of which I'd already picked up at the stands myself. I hate when that happens... >
Good Job again, and i was please to read that Sonic Limited Edition was one of the rarest DC games and i picked it up off ebay last x-mas for 3 bucks. Not to bad. But I will try to get my Pics of Room Of Doom for you if you would consider them for me. I have like 3 rooms b/c there scatered by the internet then in the basement. I like T&T it gets better every month, since like i started reading it back in 96 i think.
Keep goin strong!
Darrell
Thanks and yeah, I want those game room pics!
Also I want that Sonic LE. Would you consider parting with it?
i saw your picture joe in tips and tricks and it was very cool in my opinion.
Hey Joe, do you happen to have your T&T articles from past issues scanned anywhere on site? I'd love to read some older ones I may have missed.. Just wondering
I do... I need to pose the question again, it might be OK for me to share them with you, I'd be happy even with sharing articles older than a year, surely that doesn't represent a conflict of interest! I'll check in again with the boss tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me!Originally Posted by NE146
I'd love to read your past articles, especially the SNES one you mentioned in the recent Genesis column.

"Next time I'll ask for an extra page!"
You should, because I like that column a lot. Tips and Tricks just got rid of thier staff profiles... they should lend that leftover space to you so we can read more detailed opinions and see larger pictures of the Rooms of Doom.

Ok if we post the list by chance?
