Default Nintendo Gamecube controller ports not working

Couldn't find anything about this, so maybe it's not a common problem. All but the first controller port has suddenly stopped working, all at the same time. I just bought one of the Nyko wireless controllers and plugged in the reciever to the second port and left it there for about a day. I doubt it's related since destroying the system seems like a serious enough design flaw for QA to have mentioned. Neither the wireless or the original will work in any port saving the first, nor will the GBA link cable. The game will prompt me to plug in the cable even after I have done so.

Anyone got any suggestions? Hopefully it's just something stupid that I can fix rather than my system being completely hosed.

You need a new controller block more than likely. If the system was dropped with a controller in it, it's likely cracked. Too many traces to bridge when cracked. Easier to replace the whole module.

Thanks for responding. The system was never dropped or had anything heavy placed upon it, so I don't think that could be the problem.

However, I have discovered that if I unplug everything, turn it off, and then turn it back on, it's fine. If I plug the GBA cable back in, everything goes off again. I'm going to exchange the cable for a new one, but the whole thing seems weird.

This sounds exactly like a problem I'm having with a GameCube I just picked up in an auction with a bunch of other stuff. I'd like to get it working, because I'd like to have a second one, and this sounds pretty simple.

The story is that the owner had it and was playing it, and while they were someone walked in front of it, and the controller cord pulled the system off the desk it was on where it fell about 2-3 feet to the floor. It then said that it no longer works.

When I got it, I was able to power it up and get it to load games, but there seems to be no power in the first controller slot. I didn't try any others, as without player 1 it really isn't very useful, but I don't know. How expensive is a controller board, and where would I get one from? Should that be all that I should look at before attempting a fix?

    Thanks!
