anyone know of a reliable source to have S-vhs/rca stereo mounts modded into the systems ?
it isn't XERO unless it starts with an "X"...

You can not have true stereo with an NES, but there is a hack to make a couple of the sound channels go to a different line, enabling the possibility of pseudo-stereo sound.

The problem is that the NES doesn't use R.G.B. video. However, Nintendo made an arcade version of the NES, which used R.G.B. chips. Somebody has modded a NES to use these chips. Check it out! Currently it still needs tweaking and I am not sure if the mod will ever be something that everybody can do, unless somebody finds an inexpensive source for the NES R.G.B. chips. The mod also doesn't currently support S-video (aka S-VHS), as far as I can tell. Instead it supports an even better video standard commonly referred to as "R.G.B.", which is visually superior to S-video.

The original NES and the AV Famicom already support RCA composite audio, which is as good as you would need from the NES. I guess it would be interesting to see an optical digital audio mod for the NES. Somebody has made a digital audio mod for the SNES.
