Anyone know of a fix for these drives or is replacement the only fix?

You can buy a new laser for them, but it would be better in the long run to get a new Samsung drive, IMHO.

Those lasers have a 50% fail rate. Really. Guess how I know?
A new drive is the only long term reliable fix.

I've pot tweaked a couple of these and it really is not a viable solution. As they said, getting a better drive is the only way to go.
I figured you could pot tweak it but I didnt want to mess with it untill I got confirmation .
Hopefully that will get a little more life out of it untill I can afford another drive.
Im putting it in a computer tower so Im going to get a modded drive.
Pot tweaking Thomsons is a confirmed waste of time.
Good Luck with the project!
