Saturn only plays certain games.

I recently bought a second Sega Saturn, model 1 (oval buttons). I can only get it to play a few games, but it always plays those games without a hitch. It seems to be unrelated to the condition of the games. It played one CD that practically looks "rotted", but not others that seem flawless.

Here are the games that it does play:

Revolution X
Virtua Fighter 2
Virtua Fighter 2 (not for resale)
Sega Rally Championship Plus Netlink Edition

And here are some that it does not play:

NFL Quarterback Club 96
NFL 97
Daytona USA
NHL All Star Hockey
NBA Jam TE (T-8102H)
World Series Baseball 98
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
NBA Action 98

Daytona USA (not for resale)

Shining Force 3

I should mention that the system has no battery for its memory. Could this be the problem? Otherwise I am guessing it is some weird laser problem. Any help?

Also, were the "not for resale" disks pack-ins, or what?

Mine did this, or something similar, at one point, I sent to to omnedon and it apparently was some sort of onboard memory corruption of some craziness. I'll let him show up and reply to that, since he fixed it, not me. Mine was a model 2 though.

Sounds like clearing the internal memory completely is what did it...
