    Mod dont play imports...

all you need is an Action Replay 4 in 1 for imports, the mods are for the copies!

    Hmm

A modded saturn that can play backups still needs a satellite to play imports.

You have to do the swap at precisely the right moment. I used to do the swap trick w/ X-Men vs. SF and I could get it to work roughly one out of 4 times. There is sort of a Capcom splash screen at the beginning...I think you have to swap right at the beginning of that.

So you may not necessarily NEED the 4 in 1 cart, but all the swapping will get to you after a while. Get the cart.

I'm not a fan of the swap trick. I bought a modded Saturn with a mod chip so that it can boot CD-Rs and I also have a hidden region switch to change between Japanese and North American discs (though it's in Japanese mode by default. ). I also have that Action Replay 4-in-1 cart to allow for PAL games, too. I'm under the impression that Panzer Dragoon Saga doesn't like the Action Replay (though I don't really know for sure) and I get a little tired of the Action Replay's boot screen. You can't save directly to the cart in-game, either. I also never use it for cheats or anything like that (mostly just for 1MB & 4MB expansion).

I also found a neat little program that will change the region of Saturn CD images so that if you don't have a region-modded Saturn but still have it modded to boot CD-Rs, you can play your images and keep your nice import discs tucked away in a safe place. It's less stress on your Saturn and less stress on your valuable discs.

I'd like to protect my investment if I ever "invested" in a Radiant Silvergun and a handful of Capcom fighters that use the 4MB expansion and whichever English Panzer Dragoon Saga I can get my hands on.

Does anybody know if there are any issues running the PAL Panzer Dragoon Saga on an NTSC system?

The spoken dialogue gets scrambles about once per disc when playing in 60Hz. Never affected me enough to switch to 50Hz.

Pretty sure D&D requires a 4M card, not neccesarily a 4-in-1. Some games just require a 1M or 4M cart to play. Some even require a specific cart for that certain game.

edit: and since it's an import, the swap trick doesn't bypass the region protection. If you want to play a burned D&D in a US saturn, you will need a 4M compatable 4-in-1 (if i'm right about it needing 4M to begin with, which I'm pretty sure is the case). If you used a region bypass cart, you'd probably get nothing but a screen full of japanese with "4M" in it somewhere, telling you need the cart. And you cant change out carts while it's on (it's very risky, and doesn't generally work anyway).

I have a modded Saturn now, but there was a time when I used the swap trick. If you really pay attention to the sounds, you can get it each and every time. It got to the point where there was never a failed attempt.

Still, I recommend getting the mod and the cart. Much nicer.

I don't think my comments above apply. When you said "swap trick" I thought you meant swapping between a cartridge that allows you to play imports and the 4M cartridge used to play some Capcom games. Sounds like you mean a software swap to play imports.
