Default Problems with UTOPIA BOOT DISK for DREAMCAST?

    Hello all...

Has anyone had this problem? My NTSC-USA Dreamcast boots up the newest Japanese games (shooters!) just fine, but it won't boot the older Japanese games (like Tetris 4-D, which came out in Japan near the DC launch.)

    Is this a normal problem?

    Thanks!!!!

Are you playing the actual GD-ROM's, or are you booting up backups of you games? The DC is known to have a finicky laser at times, and if you are playing 4 year old CD-R's that may be the problem. Otherwise it does sound like a quite a weird problem. Make sure you have the most recent utopia disc, and burn a freash copy of it at a slow rate.

No, they are the original games... one was a sealed game, never played! It's just games from the early Dreamcast period that are doing it.

    Bizarre I say.

    Cheers

If your having problems with the boot disk then try getting the DC-X import booter, it is a good choice when booting imports.

There are a few Jap games that will not boot on my pal Dreamcast with Utopia, Pen Pen and Sports Jam spring to mind. Could be that it just doesn't work with some games.

Is Tetris a Windows CE title? You may have to resort to the lifted battery leg swap trick using a USA Windows CE title to get it to boot.

The only Japanese title I can't get to boot (with the Utopia disc) on my US DC is Puyo Puyo 4.
