    Default War Gods

When I had an N64, I remember that this was the best fighting game there was for the system at the time. But that was when the N64 had just come out, and I sold mine shortly after, so I'm sure another fighting game beat it.

Anyhow, I just got it for the PS. Yes, I know that it's a really old game now. But I had forgotten just how cool it is, and I'm pretty impressed with it on the PS. Yes, I know that there are much better fighting games on the PS.

But other games aside, this is still pretty good for its time. It didn't get very good reviews, because everyone was expecting it to be a 3D Mortal Kombat, which is pretty much what it is, but it was released before MK4 came out.

So, I just wanted to say that in spite of what all the old reviews say about it, I still think that it's pretty cool. Most casual gamers seem to agree, but what about DP gamers? Do you think this is a decent 3D fighter, or does it suck?

Also, which version are you basing your opinions on, and why? I've played both the N64 version and the PS version now, but I've still never played it in the arcade. And judging both versions, I think that it's a pretty solid game.

I think the PS version is the most impressive one from a technical standpoint, because it looks and plays almost exactly the same as the N64 version. But I still think that both versions are great games for their respective systems.

Wait... hold on... you LIKE War Gods? O_O

I think it's some of the worst dreck I've ever played. O_o I'd play just about nearly any other fighter I own over it. I consider it one of the worst N64 games I have.

Probably would play it over Xena, though... haha...

I also recall that the PC version was panned on HOTU.

I remeber the game fondly, not because I actually liked it, but because it was an AWESOME looking arcade machine located at an army base in Italy. (long story....).

Well I guess coming back to it after years of not playing it, and playing it on a system that I've never played it on before gives it alot more appeal than if I'd owned it for years and just dug it back out again, I dunno. But it doesn't seem that bad to me now. Of course I'd much rather play Dynasty Warriors or something else even better on the PS, but for a 3D fighter, War Gods seems like a pretty good one to me now. It's nowhere near the quality of the legendary 3D fighters like Soul Blade or anything like that, but it's alright. I wouldn't call it excellent, but I'd still say that it's a good fun game to play.

It's crap. Horrible control, weak fighting engine, bad graphics, terrible animation, ridiculous characters.

The ridiculous characters could have had some "camp" value if the rest of the game wasn't so horrendous.

The arcade game is bad enough. Porting it to the PSX, PC and N64 was an even worse idea.

I took it back after one day.

I bought it. I returned it the next day.

It's right up there with Iron and Blood.

Bio Freaks is awesome. Don't you forget it.

I hate War Gods. When this game was set on Free play at the local arcade, it was still never touched. I played it in the Arcade and on the N64.

I don't know. I think that's a little harsh. Even War Gods isn't as horrible as Iron and Blood. x_x

Oh man, I remember playing War Gods and Bio Freaks at the Midway offices here in San Diego. I thought it was cool at the time that the inside of the arcade machine was basically a computer. I don't know if the actual released arcade machine had all the same boot up sequences and "loading" messages.

War Gods however was a pretty lame game... Bio Freaks was a bit better. However, I still have my wargods display banner/sign from Midway's booth at E3.

So was Bio Freaks a sequel to War Gods, or what? I never heard of that one.

I don't think it was, but don't quote me.
