It's not too crazy...plus at least it's going to a good cause. If you calculated the value of all those items in the DP guide and added around 10%, the normal DP markup, then you'd come to about that.
It's high, but it's good stuff. That site also seems to have a pack of rabid wolves who bid there. I guess everyone there thinks it's super secret so they all think they're getting a good deal or something? I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why the bidders there will shell out like 50 bucks for a dirt psx with 4 incomplete games after it's been up for about a day.
I bid higher there than other auction sites because it's the Goodwill. It's a LOT better than bidding high on ebay.

That begs the question, is any part of your bid tax deductible? I know to a certain extent no, because you are getting an item of value in return. But what if your bid is more than the fair market value of the item. Is that part tax deductible? Any tax attorneys or IRS employees here?Originally Posted by chadtower
Unless you buy a large amount of stuff there, it's not worth the hassle. Most people don't itemize their deductions that way anyway.

Keep in mind that when purchasing from Goodwill as usual there are no guarantees and no buyer protection. If their online auctions are anything like their retial stores then the electronics have not been tested and they may or may not work at all. Also keep in mind that whoever is listing these auctions are most likely volunteers and probably don't know the first thing about what it is that they're listing so there may also be parts missing and/or broken.
I'm not saying not to purchase from them, I'm just pointing out that as good of a cause as they are there are some risks that you take by buying from them online.
I buy most old stuff assuming it's a 50/50 shot at being working anyway. It doesn't matter where you buy old stuff from, it's always like that. Hell I bought an NES from a seller HERE once that didn't even have a 72 pin connector when it arrived. The connector was absent.
