Default I need help IDing this game.

Ok, I bought this game the other day at Bookman's because it was only $4.00. I jumped in it thinking it was some kind of Mahjong type of thing, I was wrong. I took some pictures of it, so you guy can help my figure it out, and tell me how to play the damned thing.

The company that makes it, is Imagineer, I looked them up, only to find a bunch of Hello Kitty crap. The serial on the bottom left is DMG-S4J.

    Ok, here are the pictures.

    The cart itself.

    The bootup screen.

    The Title Screen.

    The game in action.

If anyone has any info on it that would be great, even if someone can tell me how to play it would be even better.

I have no friggin' idea about the cart, but I know that the game being played is Shogi. I don't know how to play it, but knowing the name might help.

Shogi plays kinda like chess, from what I've heard. I'm sure you can find lots of Shogi tutorials online if you just do a Google search.

If you can't find anything useful under "shogi" (and you probably will), try "shougi" too.

I know I have a copy of the rules for Shogi somewhere, but it might be buried. Of course, that's not the same as having the instructions for that cart...

I wouldn't be surprised if the game had a tutorial, and if so you could probably at least figure out legal moves from it.

Not sure if I can help you with that particular game, but I did a little Japanese search on the company. It looks like you are finding some Hello Kitty stuff b/c that is their newest offering - a Hello Kitty game for the i-mode (japanese mobile phone). But they have also localized alot of import games for the Japanese market (so it seems):

    http://www.imagineer.co.jp/pc/products.html

There really seems to be little about this game even in Japanese. I can find that it's a 1994 GB game (but you knew that already) and sold for 4700 yen new (~$45 US). I found it listed for sale currently at 945-1500 yen, so it's certainly not overpriced at $4...

As far as playing the game, sorry. I know nothing. Hope this helps a little!

What, haven't you guys ever heard of Imagineer before? They're the makers of Quest 64, among other titles. :P
