How to get store displays?

I'd love to have a couple of store displays for systems and games. Everytime I ask the guys at my local stores, their reply is that they don't get sold or given away...

Ebay for this stuff can get kinda expensive.

How do you guys get a hold of this stuff?

I found getting to know the guys behind the counter helps a lot!
This can take a while thou, the way i finally got to be know as "Retro-Boy" was by going in weekly with a load of loot from car boot sales and trading it in, before i knew it i was a familiar face in there

just ask the workers. at my Gamestop if it isnt taken they'll let you tag you name and number on the back of it

i just ask at my local gamecrazy.if someone doesnt have there name on it,its all mine.i have gotten about 20 small displays,and 3 big ones,my favorite one being my maximo displayer.

Just ask the game store workers for them.

That's how I get mine.

I even got a Nintendo Rep stocking Wal-Mart to give me a bunch.

If you are a regular customer at any store, it won't be to hard. STart talking to the manager, and jsut ask for some promos. I used to do it all the time untill I ran out of room. Now I don't even bother.
Dumpster dive was great for a while, but now more and more places are getting compactors. For some reason my GS started only throwing away garbage, I dont know were they keep there promos anymore its wierd. But I would try that to.

Suggestions:

Show them your Room of doom pics.
Be nice.
Buy something every time you are in, Even if it is a cheap game.
When buisness is slow, Have a conversation with the manager.
Buy a system from the store at least every six months.

I work at best buy and no else cares about the displays and all the crap. Even got a GBA SP display that got taken down for the DS Display. They kept the system to "give" away though.

Everyone says ask the manager/employees, but, umm.... he said he did that
And I can remember long ago when I tried getting EB displays and was actually friends with the people working there, I still couldn't get them. You'll just have to believe sometimes it's not an option

Like everyone suggested, get to know the people there/become a regular and let them know you'r eintrested. Working there doesn't hurt either since you can usually grab stuff out of the pile before it goes to the trash or cardboard compactors.
