As in a Dream you see yourself tumbling down a great, dark staircase.

I'd like to vote on this one but there's two I haven't played on that list so I don't want to skew the voting.

Off the record though, I really liked Zork I and III.

I was hooked on nemesis for a while, I played the demo and beat the first puzzle, demo ended and I ran right out to buy the full version.

I've played and beaten every Zork out there, and I've got to say Beyond Zork is my favorite although it's the least "Zorkiest" of the lot. I liked it because of the randomly generated areas, and becuase of the money and magic system. The whole game just struck a chord with me for some reason. Over the years I think I've discovered every little secret about the game, including everything that lowers or raises your stats.

there were also 3 more Zork titles:

    Zork Quest I
    Zork Quest II
both of these were just "animated comic books" sort of a C64 multimedia tour of Zork.

and the Last Infocom Zork release ZORK: The Undiscovered Underground. Which was released in 1997. It's ok, though I haven't finished it.

I tried keeping with the major Zork titles really. What's the Zork timeline of the games again?

The Zork games are set in the ruins of an ancient empire lying far underground. You, a dauntless treasure-hunter, are venturing into this dangerous land in search of wealth and adventure. Many strange tales have been told of the fabulous treasure, exotic creatures, and diabolical puzzles in the Great Underground Empire.

Most info on Zork releases focus of the second revision or on a specific computer platform. I'm going to focus on the very first release regardless of computer version.

    K.. Zork releases by date..

1978 Zork I: The Great Underground Empire (there are 6 revisions of Zork I the last in 1988)
1981 Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz
1982 Zork III: The Dungeon Master (though many say '83, Serial number states '82)
1987 Beyond Zork: The Coconut of Quendor
1988 Zork Zero: The Revenge of Megaboz
1988 Zork Quest I: Assault on Egreth Castle
1988 Zork Quest II: The Crystal of Doom
    1993 Return to Zork
    1996 Zork: Nemisis
    1997 Zork: Grand Inquisitor
    1997 Zork: The Undiscovered Underground

Fear your actions because they become your habits
Fear your habits because they become your character

If you were asking about the timeline in the world of Zork then:

    The Fallen Empire

    883 GUE - Zork Zero
    948 GUE - Zork 1,2,3 / Zork: Nemesis
    952 GUE - Enchanter
    957 GUE - Sorcerer
    966 GUE - Spellbreaker / Wishbringer / Beyond Zork
    1033 GUE - . . .
    1034 GUE - . . .
    1043 GUE - . . .

    The Inquisition

    1048 GUE - . . .
1066 GUE - Zork: The Undiscovered Underground
1067 GUE - Zork: Grand Inquisitor
1647 GUE - Return To Zork

the ... are where big events happen in the story but where no game exsists.. yet..
Fear your thoughts because they become your words
Fear your words because they become your actions
Fear your actions because they become your habits
Fear your habits because they become your character
