Has anyone played this yet and if so what do you think of it? I really want to buy it because I'm a huge Shining Force fan but I'm not sold on it yet. Just curious of what anyone thinks of it so far.

Yeah, the next game in the series "Shining Force Neo" is nothing like the original either... I don't know why they decided to make them both action/rpg's.
In any case Shining Tears is a pretty decent game on it's own merit. Nothing spectacular though.
The co-op play is its saving grace...but for the $$$ you can find much better Action/RPG's out there (although recently we seem to be getting a slew of mediocre ones...Fullmetal Alcemist, Shining Tears, and IMO the new Champions of Norrath game).
