Glitches in 2600 carts

I was playing Pac Man on my VCS today and for no reason it would hand out either 40 or 60,000 point bonuses. Is this a glitch in all carts or is it due to to the age of the cart, does it need to be cleaned, etc?

I've had my share of unexplained and unreproduceable glitches as well. The few that I can remember the most:

Yars Revenge: after I hit the Qotle and I got the explosion screen, the explosion stoppd shrinking half way yet the color continued to cycle and I was able to move Yars around. I had to use the reset switch to get out of that.

Maze Craze: Once I found a larger than normal square "stuck" near the maze's exit. It wasn't moving and it was white. And I couldn't get past it

Math Grand Prix: I was selecting the number for answer but instead of number rolling over, the number started into gibberish and kept going. Couldn't do anything until I turned off the system.

No and yes, it happens almost every time I play.

Here's a glitch I discovered today. On a Commodore 64 with Mayhem in Monsterland if you finish the game and start over, the sprites look like crap. Instead of monsters, you see random dot patterns.

Oh we're on C64 now? I once crashed Test Drive 2 by accident. I was hitting 'w' key repeatedly, forgetting I'm using C64 and not PC version. After a while a strange black box kept popping up in the upper right corner and then the whole game died with only half the screen visible.
