gyromite nes game with famicom converter

I dont mean to thread-jack, but I have a gyromite. How can I know if it has the converter without opening it? (I dont have the special screwdriver needed) :/

It will be slightly heavier than your average cart.

Use a handscale. If it weighs more than 4 oz., it's in there. By the way, I have Excitebike, Pinball, and Hogan's Alley with them (for trade). I also found the converter in Gyromite, Wrecking Crew, and Duck Hunt. Gyromite's the most common title with the Converter.

Actually Stack Up is, I think all the Stack Up carts have the converter in them. Gyromite is easier to find, yes, but when it comes to "cart with converter to cart without converter" ratio, Stack Up wins.

the way i find them is
look for the original run games with the 5 screws in the back.
weight
and on the chip its self if your looking at it, a normal cart that does not have the converter the little (nipple) will be in the center on the coper prongs of the cart.
if it has the converter they will be offset to the side. (hope that makes sense)
all the cars i have with the converter is just a flat tipe screwdriver.

pinball


the reason i think gyromite is so common to find is that no one kept the game. i see at least 5 minimum at every store i go to.
and i have found 3 total with the converter, but i have looked at 1000000 gyromite games.
the other games arent as commen to find in the store

i've owned 3 gyromites; none of them have had it. Recently I bought a few games off of some guy and both the Wrecking Crew and Stack-up had them in it.

Too bad I can't get my 280-in-1 (famicom) to work with either of the adapters though... I opened the cart up, and the black rom pieces didn't have the usual black tape over the clear window... does that mean that maybe the rom got reset or something?

I wouldn't advise you to look through every cart you have. Only the first run of cartridges have them. Here's the titles to look through (even though some are re-emphasized).

Try cleaning the connections with rubbing alcohol. Works for me sometimes.

I tried that using my stackup and wrecking crew (with converter) and a 5 screw exictebike (no converter). The only thing that looks different is the length of the pins...the converter games have a longer pin than the ones with no converter, almost double the length.

i take the converter out of the cart.
take both chips out, and put the 72 pin side in the other side that it started out in.
so i can slid a game on the adapter without cutting the tabs off it the converter.
if im playing in a front loader i use my game genie, to make it easier to put in and remove the game from the system.

I have a true Famicom to NES convertor available. Also, I've found it in Stack-Up, Gyromite, Hogan's Alley, and Wrecking Crew. My Gyromite's come about 1 in 3, Stack Up is 100%. Hogan's Alley and Wrecking Crew are tough finds though.
