Today, I was cleaning a SMB/ Duck Hunt cart. It wouldn't play, so I opened it up and it was packed full of dirt. It got me thinking, What have others discovered, besides converters, lurking inside their games? Money, Drugs, Bugs?

There's an older thread asking the same question. IIRC, it included both drugs and bugs
I've found former arcade EPROMs and the paper the game's label was on inside of Sachen carts.
Found both types of roaches inside broken systems at the game store I worked at.
And porno in a broken ps2

I've had no end of ants in old Atari cartridges/speccy tapes but nothing really disturbing/satanic. Did hear a rumour once of someone who found a snake inside their computer. That must have been a brown trousers day.
There are only two types? By that do you mean living and dead?Originally Posted by Sothy

Yecch... I got a NES Zapper with dead bugs in it. I also found a dead fly on the contacts of a Pitfall cart..
And i heard that insects got into someone's SNES..
I don't know what this last one is, But there was a "Candle wax disaster" To another person's SNES.. I don't know what happened..
I once bought a boxed Menacer from a garage sale for $2. got it home and it had some sort of goo on it. Threw it out iommediately.
I still think that guy who found a joint in his cart wins. The weirdest thing I ever found was a cheerio in an NES cart, near the contacts.

Found an as-is PS1 at a thrift once. Opened the lid to find a Madden disc from some year inside. When I went to remove the Madden disc I wound up lifting up the whole machine. A little bit of prying revealed that the shiny side of the disc had been completely covered with grape jelly , which I guess explains how this thing wound up as is at the thrift.
Do you think something like that would still be fixable with a good cleaning?Originally Posted by Pantechnicon

I've found a half eaten cookie in a toaster style NES. It got me wondering how it got in there. I could only come to two conclusions. A) Someone before me with some knowledge of the NES opened it up and was repairing it and either put the cookie in there as a joke or put it in there and forgot it. Or B) Someone at the factory some 20 years ago put it in there and it never left. Kind of funny though. And no, I didn't try to eat it.
Roach Eggs complete with Roaches. Pinball, NES. I found this in a once then FuncoLand. I brought it to the manager's attention....

Well in the last Famicom clone I picked up at a yard sale I found a ton of insect droppings, I mean it was COATED inside. As for just a normal cartridge I found what looked to be a sliver of moldy cheese inside a Genesis Virtua Racing cart when I was remounting the heat sink. Some like little hard candies at the bottom of a toaster NES, that's about it. Nothing else really stands out as it's mainly just dead bugs or soda.
Nothing neat found in a cart or system, sorry to say. But I did get a couple of Polaroid snapshots taken at the local nudie bar hidden in a used gamestore PSX Gran Turismo once.
Still Around...Still Gamin'...
Nothing too special, but I did find dog hair in a previously never-opened genesis controller.
I found a copy of Blaster Master 2 for Genesis, complete with a spiderweb and dried up spider remains in the contacts.
