Default Mega 64 - Screenshots and mini review of first episode

Alright, I'm sure many of you have seen the stuff on http://www.mega64.com

I'm not trying to advertise here, moreso just show off in a bit better detail what the show really is, so anyone here who might be interested but not wanting to take a jump into buying it could get some more info. Mostly I'm doing this because this is what I wish people would have done before I bought it, but I ended up likling the show quite fine, so no problem! Anyway, the site shows you some skits, the "jackass with videogames" type stuff. The actual DVD has actual episodes though, skits are only part of it. I've prepared a few screencaps of the first episode to show off. This info could be spoilery I guess in some sense.

A quick rundown of the show, it is a low-budget, public TV show that is obviously MST3K inspired that pokes various forms of fun at video games. There's a villian, who develops a console (the mega 64) that "plays all your old games", and inserts you mentally into the game world. The guys in the skits are his test subjects, the "hero" characters, that he tricked and captured since no company would buy the mega 64. He hopes to find a game "no one would want to escape from" and thereby rule the world, or sell the console and make money, whatever. Most of the cast is played by three guys, and they are all pretty amusing roles. the first episode is slightly lacking as it's the first thing they filmed for the project but it picks up quickly, partially due to the introduction of a puppet character and the villians's roomate. The skits are mostly messing around in public in costume and whatnot.

I'm throwing this image in as an eyecatch. This is the DVD menu. Notice the obviously NES-inspired artwork, and for that matter, episode titles.

The first episode is mostly setting up the story, introduction of characters, and a few skits. Mario Bros, Kid Icarus, Banjo-Kazooie, and some made up games by "local developers".

http://img51.exs.cx/img51/1895/pdvd0036yt.jpg the two main "hero" characters. there's several other characters as well but they are not so much in the first episode. This is also the main "goodguy" set, with the Mega 64 itself. This set is similar to the "bridge" (or whatever you wanna call it) from MST3K in it's use. To play a game, they put on the bike helmets and sit in the chairs.

http://img51.exs.cx/img51/2665/pdvd0075ne.jpg Screen of them doing a drive-by calculation in SUXOR GAMES's xtreme graphing game, XXX,Y. This skit makes me laugh quite a bit.

So, this is just some stuff to start conversation really. if you guys want me to do rundowns and screens of what's in the other eps, just ask.

I got the DVD when it was released and I couldn't be happier. These guys are halarious and the story is actuall pretty interesting.

Definately a recommended buy. It's a good thing to watch while you toss back a couple beers (or kool-aid, it's pretty much PG) with your gaming buddies.
