Default Changes to Buy/Sell and Ebay forums for auctions

Starting now, Ebay Insanity has been changed to Everthing Ebay.

It will now be the location for all Ebay related threads, whether it be a member selling something or just a crazy auction. Any auction thread posted in Buying and Selling from this point on will be redirected to the new Ebay forum.

Forgot to mention...we will also be moving all the current Ebay threads we find from B/S to the new Ebay forum. So if you don't see your thread anymore, check the new Ebay forum before freaking out

What if I were to sell something in B & S, only it didn't sell, and now I list it on Ebay. Do I make a new thread in Everything Ebay?

    Just want to be clear.

I just want to say that I think this is a great move. Too often I've had an auction I was afraid to post in the eBay forum because of its misleading title. Thanks Drexel!

You might as well have 2 seperate threads. It's easier to keep things organized that way (at least on my end )

    AMEN!

Thank you so very very much, this is something that has really been bugging me for a long time. I hate seeing the title "X Game For Sale" then a link for an eBay auction. Pisses me off.

    Thanks a lot

I agree completely. I think this system makes a lot more sense. Threads labbeled as "FS-" instead of "FA-" annoy the heck out of me.

    Thanks, Drexel.

I tip my hat to you, Drexel.

Will the restriction of 1 thread on the front page still be enforced in the new Ebay forum?

I try to list things on a weekly basis but I also like to list the stuff I find on ebay thats neat for others to see for themselves or just to peruse. So will this change effect me being able to keep my "finds of the day" thread as well as a "check out my auctions because I like the exposure and traffic!!" on the front page at the same time?

If your selling stuff, we'd like to keep it the same way of combining your posts into one. But if at the same time you find a crazy auction, or just something you'd think others might be interested in, that you are not selling, feel free to make a second thread.

Also, we would still ask that the bumping rules from this forum carry over on your personal auction threads. Maybe tomorrow I'll get around to making a Everything Ebay rules sticky.

    No offense but this sucks!

In the past if I wanted to purchase or sell something I knew to look in the buying / selling forum. Made enough sense to me.

If I wanted to talk and read about rediculous eBay auctions, eBay scammers, get a heads up on rare or unique things on Ebay and other random eBay stuff I'd look in the eBay Insanity forum. Now I guess I'll have to filter through pages upon pages of for sale spam. Aren't ads for people's ligitimate auctions more on topic in the buying selling forun than in the eBay INSANITY forum?

eBay insanity was my favorite forum and I thought it was just fine the way it was but unfortunately I guess I'm in the minority. (or am I, anyone else agree?)

Edit: Christ, there's already a full page of garbage scrolling the board there since the last time I visited.

I like the change and it makes more sense to put all Ebay topics into a single forum.

I do think throwing in auctions makes it a little cluttered. Is there any way to add a sub category for auction posting only?

We can't please everyone sadly. People were complaining about the eBay selling threads being in B/S. What are we to do? Having them in the eBay forum makes more sense regardless of their content. If they are in someway to do with eBay, then in they go there.

I'll join the minority. I also loved the Ebay insanity forum...

The previous arrangement made more sense to me. Ebay selling threads belong to the Buying/Selling thread. You can always make an [Ebay] tag mandatory in the subject line when someone posts his ebay auctions. Or is there someway to have 3 forums? Buying/Selling, Selling on Ebay and Ebay insanity?

Wouldn't it be lovely if something here changed and everyone agreed it was a Good Thing? Imagine that!

C'mon, we all KNOW that will never happen! Actually, I appreciate the honesty of our members, and the willingness to "join the minority". Unlike some of the other forum communities I've visited, there are no Lemmings here. Everyone's got a voice, and everyone's voice is considered.

This particular change wasn't just a whim, however. It's the result of many conversations over a fair amount of time. The B&S forum is very popular here, and this change maximizes the selling and shopping experience, and hopefully even encourages people to try to sell here as opposed to starting with eBay. Let's see how it works over some time before knocking the change.
