Dude, seriously, what kind of a comparison is this?

The ColecoVision has the Adam add on! It becomes a fully fledged computer that can do computer type stuff! You can even save things on tapes. PS2? You can have YABASIC.. wow.. big whoop! And XBox? Gentoo Linu.....

    I'll get my coat :(

Of course the end of Coleco is nigh. Hell, the end of all game systems are nigh. They just can't compete with the raw power of the almighty RCA studio II. It rules the game market with an iron fist. It is your new god!!!

Thats hilarious I love the screenshot comparisions. On a serious note, how cool would it be if there was a mod to make Coleco and Atari controllers wireless?

I knew the writing was on the wall for Coleco when they just kept rehashing their old titles.. I mean, Donkey Kong was great, but then they got "sequelitis" and released Donkey Kong Jr... WTF? You call that innovation?

Not to mention all those "kiddie" games: Smurf, Cabbage Patch Kids, etc... Although I am looking forward to Smurf Golf and Cabbage Patch Wrestling... it's just too little, too late..

Hey, try to find another console whose chip is on a space probe! Go ahead, just try!

Let me clue all of you in on some FACTS, not OPINIONS about these old systems, because some of your ignorance sickens me to the point of feeling sick about how ignorant you are in your lack of knowledge.

With regard to The Vision by Coleco. (I'm sick of 21st century fanboys who've just come on to the scene and think they can impress people by just tossing around "combined" words like Colecovision.) I hate to break it to you, but this system is going nowhere and if history is any indicator, it will soon be EMULATING the Xbox and the PS2. Look how quickly this cameleon system was able to fool people into thinking they were playing VCS games on an actual VCS!

I'd also like to correct a previous poster regarding what he or she called, *chuckle* the "Intellivision".

It's spelled "Intel-a-vision" and was Intel's first attempt at making a machine that output video directly to a TV. Don't be too hard on yourself, a lot of people don't know that.

Other shining stars that The Vision by Coleco soundly defeated was:
Atari's "Fifty to Hundred" (named after early estimates on how many carts would come out for it)

Vector-X named as such because nobody knew where it would go.

And, of course, the least known but most interesting,
Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Arcadia 2001 After seeing the success of the game "Journey's Escape", a group decided to name an entire console after itself.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about this period of time because most of you were still in your fathers' sacks when I was actually playing these systems.

I'll soon be publishing a book, Penumbra: The Darkening and Lightning of Videogames. Starting with the very fist videogame system: Simon! Invented by Ralph Bear, It came out in 1972 and instead of using video it used lights with plastic cels that overlaid the lights to create the "colorful lights" that were the precursor to modern videogames like Pong! that didn't even use color!

Sorry, I could talk about this stuff all day. Oh, so my point was we can't trust the opinon of someone who doesn't even know the proper name for The Vision by Coleco.

If the ColecoVision is nearing its end, why is a slightly modified used system and a few common games selling for way more than a brand new Xbox or PS2?

Hmmmm...you have a point there, DP.

Tell you what- rather than just keeping all of those crummy CV games around, takin' up space, just send them to me for, uh, "disposal." No, nononononono, I won't hear a word of that; you do NOT have to send me any money to take them off of your hands, really, I'll do it for free!

The screen shots side by side like that were hilarious. Amazing how far games have come.

I blame the casual gamers for all this end of Coleco talk. They need to take their heads out of their asses and see that 2D is where it is at. And only casual gamers would use something like a memory card, or battery backup. Hardcore gamers play until their thumbs bleed and never turn the system off so they do not lose their high score. Eat that you casual gamers!!!

P.S. I have not bought any of the systems mentioned, but all of my friends have so I feel I am very knowledgeable.

How can I have forgotten Coleco's oh-so-great table hockey games!!! I spent so many hours on a late 80s hockey table... I have to say again: thank you, Coleco, for making me wonder for years who the heck were the Colorado Rockies in the NHL.

Hey, you gotta give credit to a company called "Conneticut Leather Company" that makes games and adorable little dolls.

If anything, they will appeal to a niche market of the rabid fans of twitch and arcade gaming. It'll never die.

Don't you mean the Avalanche? The Rockies are a baseball team. Or was that a misprint?
