    Default Genesis 3 Problems: UPDATE!

I picked up a Genesis 3 at the Flea market, and I have some random parts with it too. I hooked them up and I get a flashing black screen, something I have never seen on other genesis models....

    RF unit : Model MK-1632
    AC Unit: Model MK-1479
    Genesis 3 Unit: MK-1461

Any ideas anyone? I'd love to get this up and running!

Have you tried cleaning the cartridge slot? The last Genesis 3 I had (and I wish I kept since I need one to mod for imports) seemed to get dirty all the time. Also since the system is so small I heard lots of reports of it getting knocked off the table / desk / entertainment center from it getting pushed or pulled by the controller cords - could simply have taken a bad fall at one point in her life.

Let me know what comes of that.

    UPDATE:

I got another Genesis 3 off of EBay last week. I decided to test it today. I plug Marble Madness in, hook it up, bingo! Works like a charm.

So I decided to try the old (What I thought was broken) Genesis 3 I mentioned before! Worked first try w/ Marble Madness! I was amazed! I have no idea what was wrong before, but it works now and that is all that matters!

WOW! No wonder all my Genesis systems work! I got 20 somethin Gennies of all 3 models! 4 if you count the Genny 1 with system link port and the one without it as 2 diffrent models!
I will get around to editing this thing again.

I could be completely wrong, but arent the Genesis 3 consoles known to be very poorly made, and didn't a third party company make them?

I do have Genesis 1 and 2 consoles and for the most part there good and work fine, but i was told a few years back to avoid the 3rd Genesis console.

Not much help, i know.. but something to keep in mind all the same, if anyone has any more info on the third Genesis console i'm all ears!

I'm fairly sure Majesco made the Genesis 3. I haven't heard much about them being poorly made but my experence has been that they are VERY easy to knock off the entertainment center, table, etc. from moving around the controller cords since the console is so lightweight. Also it carried over the stupid DIN sockets from the Genesis 2, which I can't stress enough how much I hate.

On the plus side the Genesis 3 has an import-friendly cartridge slot and is extremely easy to install a region switch in.

I've been told to avoid all three and stick with my X'Eye.
