Default CD cases vs. DVD cases - which is better for games?

Personally, I like CD cases a lot better. They're compact, easier to handle, and just look a lot cooler.

DVD cases.. they don't break as easy and you get more room for cool art.

I have to go with DVD cases, though most of my games are in CD cases. CD cases crack and break, DVD cases do not. CD cases barely hold the CD and a small set of instructions. DVD cases can hold a huge amount of other paperwork. You can barely make out the artwork on a CD case. A DVD case is bigger with easier to read wording and easier to see art.

There's a reason why the Saturn and PSX longboxes died out. They were fragile and cumbersome. Now, CD cases seem to be on the way out, as PS2, Xbox and GC games are packaged in DVD cases.

i also like dvd cases better because they aren't easy to break, and i think they look cooler on display.

bah your bulky DVD cases :P

Yeah, DVD cases are very sturdy and secure. I'm just feeling nostalgic for them CD cases of the PS1 and Dreamcast era.

And those big Saturn cases...they have to be the ugliest things in the world!

CD, because if you DO break them, they are easy to replace.

AOL has made DVD case replacment pretty easy. They don't have the memcard slot, but they work.

I get new DVD boxes at Blockbuster Video for free. they get shipped like 500 a week or something for no reason. Same with CD cases I guess as they give me those to.

Like IGotTheDot pointed out, the DVD cases (later gen. PS 2 ones) have memory card slots. The only problem is, I forget that I put the memory card in them. :/

While CD cases are prone to cracks, that's not too big a problem if you're careful. So, I go with CDs because DVD cases tend to be more damaging to manuals and inserts. They're good in a lot of other ways, but if they can't hold the manual safely then the rest is pointless.

If you're real careful, the CD case can last. But it's impossible to be that careful for the lifetime of the CD case. One drop is all it takes to shatter the case.

I prefer DVD case as it's made of different plastic and not prone to breaking at all. Plus I can get shitload of free DVD cases but no free CD case and who wants to shell out $15 for a 10 pack of CD case that may already be cracked???

Dude, $15 for a 10 pack seems a little steep, but I understand you are probably just making a point.

I strip the clear cases I get with music CD's off just in case I break a dreamcast/psx case.

And I have no preference either way. I like using DVD cases for games that come in DVD cases, and I like using CD cases for games that come in CD cases.
