I just got a copy of Marble Madness for NES and it says Milton Bradley on the cover, but when i play the game it says it is manufactured by TENGEN. Why is this?

I believe one company has the rights to distribute the game, and the other simply produces it. I used to work for Absolute Entertainment, and T*HQ had a license on several games that we were producing like Home Alone2.
Tengen was pretty much Atari's home games division or something, wasn't it?
Right. I thought Marble Madness was produced in the arcades by Tengen (Atari) and then licenced to MB for the NES release.

And to get even more complicated, the NES version was developed by Rare.
Nice game though anyways. Good choice. I used to play the shit out of that game back in the day!
Between the developer, publisher, producer, and all and sundry parties whose intellectual properties are used, licensed or implicated in the product, I'm pretty resigned to having a laundry list of company names pop up before I get to actually play a game these days.
But I don't actually see all the companies' names, because that's what I call "grababrew" time.

That's funny you mention Marble Madness... I just now got Marble Madness for the Game Gear in the mail TODAY... found somebody on UGTZ to trade it for an extra Saturn controller.
The Game Gear version has Tengen on the label... i'm curious to see what it says when I fire it up.
This game kicked my arse in the arcades. We;ll see how it does on the Game Gear!
Thanks for indulging my gaming habit when I was young, Dad. You were the best. I miss you. ~David Barnes 1926-2007~
