...makes my collection look dismal
I probably have no more than 250 games total (150+ of these being NES), and dont have barely any of all the cool systems :O (O^2, NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, Saturn, PS1, PS2, GBC/GBA is all I have)
Cheers, mates

You have a bigger collection than alot of people. But remember all collections started one game at a time. So I wouldn't call your dismal at all I would call it young Also you can get alot of games cheaper. Good luck

Well, the pictures in the Room of Doom section probably represent the top 1% of all the collectors here, honestly. As more of us add our pics, there will be many more smaller Rooms of Doom. For instance, I just crossed over 1000, but after seeing Joe's collection in person, mine is child's play. On the other hand, we are all different types of collectors, so we all will have a different focus.
Be proud of your collection. Mine was about half the size of yours about 10 years ago. It just takes time. I never would have thought that I would have so many games back then.
Yeah, I've got somewhere around 450-500 games for 11 consoles and two handhelds, which makes for more a "corner of misfortune" in my finished attic rather than a straight-up Room of Doom. Your time will come. Don't succumb to RoD envy.

At this point in your collection, you should revel in the fact that almost every game you find in the wild will be one you don't have. As your numbers go up, such opportunities become fewer and much farther between...good luck hunting!Originally Posted by Mythik

that's the thing....finding games in the wild for prices that differ from e-bays are seemingly impossible here (I think I've found like 3 or 4) :\
Yes. I agree with this point whole-heartedly. I've never counted the number of games in my collection, but I probably have only about 600 different games. That having been said, I'm really proud of my collection -- it is, at least in my opinion, about as perfect as it can be. My focus has always been on the Jaguar and Dreamcast, and about 550 of my games are for those two systems.Originally Posted by klausien

In my opinion, you HAVE all the cool systems! Anything from Nintendo and Sega gets a thumbs up from me! Yes, everyone has one. But there is a reason for that.
And, I'm sorry, but anyone with 100+ games is doing well in my book. I'm going to have to give a read out of my database soon. I'll just wait for another couple of eBay purchases to drop in, first.
Be proud of the collection you have, and look forward to adding to it for years to come.
It takes years to build some of these amazing collections in the Room of Doom pics. You'll get there someday, just enjoy the ride.

Same as other guys, i think you must be proud of your collection, hey man!!!, USA is a country where you find a lot of stuff cheap and in a good condition, so you could resize your collection tomorrow, next week or the next two years!!!
Don´t give up

Don't worry about it, Mythik ... quality over quantity, that's the way I look at it.
You've got some nice systems and as long as they interest you that's what matters.
That being said, all you need now is a Turbo Duo/PC Engine and you'll be set.
My collection started out small, but over the years It just keeps growing and growing. I have approx 370 games, but most of them are next-gen titles that i spent 40-55 bucks a pop on.
I'm Just about to hit 800 games (currently at 799) and compared to some that is nothing. But it grows all the time so you just have to stick with it and keep buying. Before you know it, you'll have 3000 games and be saying these exact same things to another new collector
Do what you love and Love what you do. No collection is dismal as long as it makes you happy, and you are proud of your accomplishment. Keep it up! Sooner than you think you will be looking for more room in your room to cram in the games!
For me it is not only the collection, but also the presentation.
Yes, there are some absolutely amazing collections posted, but the room must also be comfortable and with proper AV, which can greatly affect the gaming experience.
The other key ingredient is an understanding significant other
I don't have a room of doom, just a "corner of infinate continues"
Oh yeah.
anyone got a quarter?

There is nothing wrong with 250 games in a colleciton.
Everybody has gotta start somewhere. It takes time (and luck), to build up your collection to meet the looks of the Joe, AlanD's and Ianoid's of the world.
The longer you keep at it, the bigger and better it will get. I've only been collecting for 8 months, and I have rougly 850 games. In a few years, who knows how much I'll have. I might have more, I might have have less. The important thing is you stay with it. That way: it can only get better.
I definitely agree about quality over quality. If you prefer amassing as much games as possible though, then go for it It may take a while, but you'll get there. As Trevor Belmont mentioned (about the turbo duo), I had a situation yesterday at work concerning that particular system. This guy that own's his own shop had a guy walk in with a saturn, turbo duo, and other systems with games that he wanted to sell. Needless to say, I'm gonna have to check out that turbo duo
