That's what I thought too. I should have picked Tempest.Originally Posted by Cmosfm

Noooo, the reason I asked for a game sugggestion was so I could eliminate games that one person was really good at.
Like Food Fight for instance.
Chris
But you STILL picked 1943.

I'm no good at Journey though, gah! :/Originally Posted by Jibbajaba
Well if I picked it at this point, people would be screaming because I let you pick the game, so still no dice. Sorry man. I'll work it into the forthcoming emulation league, OK?
Chris
I have one small request concerning the playoffs. Could the link to the ROM file be e-mailed out to the participants as well as posted here? Since the play time is tighter than the normal rounds things like DP going down for awhile at night could make the playing field uneven since we'd be unable to get to the ROM link. (not sure how many people other than me frequent DP only late at night for the most part)
I am in the process of moving right now, so I can't handle the MAME league today. I will post the final week's game tommorow and update the standings on Wednesday.

Very intresting game. I though I had to match up the colors right, but I was wrong. I figured that would have been WAY too hard.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Number 1 in the 'hood g!
I do as well, I get it updated after every few MAME updates but I've been slacking since v0.90. Really I always want to use the ROM provided so that everyone is running the same file.Originally Posted by Queen Of The Felines
I don't have internet acces at home right now due to the move, and I don't have time to do this at work. As such, I have asked Gapporin to pick a game for me this week. I asked him to try to pick something more mainstream, but ultimately you are at his mercy.
I'll update the standings tommorow night after my phone gets hooked up.
Chris
"Gapporin," "pick," and "mainstream" do not belong in the same sentence, fortunately. I didn't appreciate that at first, but I do now. Many of the games that Gapporin has picked were new to me, and some of them I enjoyed very much, and will be playing in the future. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy your picks Chris, some of them I did. But you can't pick Asteroids for Gapporin and then expect him to pick something mainstream for you.Originally Posted by Jibbajaba
This being the last week is kind of sad. I think there was a learning curve for everyone, and hopefully it will stick if the tournaments continue (like maybe having all the picks lined up in advance :P ). I joined this tournament on a whim only, I'm not very good at games in general. But that has not detracted from the fun factor for me. Trying out new games that I never would have given a second glance was best of all. So I want to thank Chris and Jared for taking their valuable time and providing us with this opportunity, and thanks to DP for letting it happen. I had a great time, and I hope that it will continue in some form or another.

Well, I've chosen my--er, Jibba's pick in the main thread. Sorry to disappoint my fans, but I've decided to choose something a bit more mainstream this time around. However, I still dig this game, and I bet you will too.
Or else.
Nice picks although I've never been very good at Tempest but I love Phozon. Scores already submitted as I'll be busy with other things this week and wanted to make sure that I got scores in for every regular round of the competition.
Thanks, Jared. Great pick.
And don't worry Ferblowjisan, the emulation league should be happening when the tournament is over. I have to discuss it with Joe though.
Chris
Well, I'm having a BIG problem with the controls in Tempest.
My Gravis GamePad Pro does'nt work right with the game for some reason, and if I try using the arrow keys on the keyboard it's IMPOSSIBLE to 'stop' on a path so you can shoot the bugs coming up it.
I can't find any way to be able to duplicate the 'spin' cycle that the arcade version has, either.
Anyone have any help? If I can't find some way to be able to PLAY the game, I won't be able to submit a score for it.
Also, which version are we susposed to be playing? The ZIP file has three revisions and Tempest Tubes. And does everyone start at the easiest difficulty setting?

@ Soulblazer - Use the mouse, it's as close as you're going to get unless you can use an Indy 500 controller somehow. I'm almost positive there is a way.
Make sure you uncheck the joystick option though. I had both of them checked and the controller pretty much went where it felt like. x_x

Let's get this control issue resoled TODAY. If this game isn't going to work, then we need to pick a new one immediately. Is anyone else having trouble or is this SoulBlazer's only?
