    Default Linkable Systems

I'm sure this has been posted before, but I am looking to find out something specific. I really like linkable systems..so blows away that split-screen crap (imagine how good Goldeneye would have been if you couldn't look to the left and see your opponents screen?). Anyway, here is what I have that I KNOW is linkable, what else can anyone think of?

    Playstation
    Jaguar
Sega Genesis (and yes i have the cable)
    Game Boys
Neo Geo Pocket (can they link to each other, or just the DC?)
    Lynx
    Game.com
Neo Geo - 4 Linkable games (that I have, I think thats all of them)
PS2 - with lan (any other way?)
    Xbox - with lan also

    Ok, now the 'maybe' section:

Saturn (I know a link cablw was made in Japan, any games actually use it?) Also, the big question...I have two Netlinks, anyway to connect two Saturns thtu these without actually using a phone line? Something yo ucould buy maybe to connect the two?

Dreamcast - Is it linkable? And do any games use it?

Anything else you all can think of? And any info on Linkable stuff?

Saturn is linkable, games which supported it were for example Gun Griffon 2, Doom, Geblockers and maybe some I forget about.

Dreamcast is also linkable, if I remember right Virual On OT and F-355 Challege supported the link-cable. I know there are a few games supporting it.

Btw which was the fourth linkable Neo-Geo game I only remember Trash Rally, Ridding Hero and League Bowling (still love the last one).

For other systems you forgot the Game Gear and Turbo Express (don't now about Turbo Grafx).

Anyway my main problem with link-cavles is the support as a lot of games don't support them anyway. I loved the idea of the PSone for being so compact, they even advertised it that it was nice to take to your friends, but hey no link-port. I was really pissed about that back then.

Yes link-gaming is great, but I think it will disappear in the future becuase of the bigger influence of Internet.

Using a null modem cable, you can link up on quite a few Amiga games too. Been a *long* time since I did it, but playing two player Stunt Car Racer, Armourgeddon and Lotus Turbo Esprit was great fun.

There was also a link-up cable for the ZX Spectrum too, but I don't know an awful lot about it besides the fact that one of the games you could use with it was Hunter Killer, a submarine game.

    NOTE:
I don't remember(forget)if the cable is supposed to be a mono or stereo wire.....I haven't messed with these in years but the wire I do have plugged in I had with them.. is Stereo.
I'm not trying to do this until I find out that forgotten info..

IMO the wire should be Mono..
I'm waiting on a response from the person who told me about this/gave me the info.(I will update)

Zelda (Four Swords) for the Gamecube. The multiplayer mode is always a blast.

We had a discussion about Saturn linkable games, but unfortunately it was somewhat inconclusive. I'll bump it and see if we get any nibbles.

You have to keep in mind, that there aren't many "linkable" games because the manufacturer of that system often times did not have any support to link up more than one system. Like Zero Tolerance for the sega genesis, you had to get that third party wire from them, but now you have to build it yourself. Programming for a multiplayer cross system deal is a little harder than it may look, especially with no standards to guide you. You may have to BS connections, like using a controller port to send out data to another console, and then there is a whole clocking type thing to keep shit in sync. Also, when these systems were released, they were REALLY friggin expensive, so they probably didn't see a need for multiple system gaming until the dawn of the internet, which brought about stuff like the X-Band modem, the DC's built-in modem, and other miscellaneous add-on's like that.
