Default PSP can't connect to computer (Mac)

I finally picked up a 256mb duo pro stick today along with a Pelican USB data cable so I can start ripping pics and movies to my PSP. The problem though is that the PSP doesn't appear to be connected. No icon shows up on the desktop when it's plugged in and when i run the iPSP software, it says that no PSP is connected.

I formated the memory card and I have the cable plugged in directly to my Mac and not a hub. Can't figure out what the problem is. Could the cable be bad? Or could it be a Mac compatibility problem? I'm totally stumped here.

Did you go into the PSP menu and hit "USB connection"? You have to do that every time you want to connect the PSP to your computer.

Duhh, that was it. Gotta read the manual more carefully next time. Thanks!

Also, make sure you unmount the PSP from the Mac first before you hit Circle to exit USB mode. Otherwise if the I/O buffer isn't flushed, you could end up with corrupt data on the memory stick.

    I never read the manuals.

To long, to boring, usually seems to be made for people much stupider than me or (hopefuly) any normal person, and when they aren't made for stupider people, they don't make much sense!

They are useless, usually, to me!

I can figure things out on my own and go through a learning experience getting the item(s) to work and end up, in the end, knowing much more about the object(s), how they work, how to get them to do something correctly, and etc.!

There is more I would like to say, but I'll leave it at this. I'm sure I have made my point clear by now, I hope.

Mac users should definitely check out a program called PSPWare. Drag and drop interface with full integration with iApps. I love it!
