    Default Helpwith NES system

Bought this thing awhile ago... the original pin connector didn't work, the screen would blink. So I got a new pin connector, and it worked great for a short time. Now when I turn it on all I get is either:

    1. blackness, with the red light on constantly

    or

    2. a dark green screen with the light blinking

    ?????

Do I need ANOTHER pin connector for this thing?

    Thanks

Did you use any cleaning solvant on the system? Have you put many pin connectors in before? Have you tried to reinstall the pin connector in? I would try these things. It could be loose. Getting color on the screen is a good thing. Getting entire blackness is bad, but it appears to be somthing that could be fixed.

Do you ever clean the games? With Q-Tips & Rubbing alcohol. I get the black screen often on my NES, but i always hit Reset once it's on, And not blinking. The games usually start after i hit reset.

Let me answer these in order:

Solvent on system? Nothing but a dab of rubbing alcohol, swabbing of the connectors on the motherboard.

Reinstall the PC? Yes, tried it 2 or 3 times already

Yes the first thing I do when I find new games is clean them, I keep swabbing until no brown or black or gray crap comes off anymore.

When I put in a new pin connector that I bought from eBay, it worked great for a short time. Then it started with the green screen and/or the blinking with all black.

I read somewhere that the connector type I got is really not that great, something about pulling like hell to get the game out? That is the type of connector I got.

So, did you have any problems with the last connector? (Yeah, a rather dumb question but it must be asked) And, Do you clean the pins in the NES itself?

I dunno if your NES is modded, but it gives less troubles playing games when it is.

The connector it came with, no games would work, it would always blink. So I put the new one in and was astounded at how well it worked... for a short time
