    Default Claymates (SNES)

I just got this in an auction on ebay for only $3 shipped. Guide says its an R5.
I was wondering how this game is and if any of you have played it?
Is it clay animation such as skullmonkies? or more along the lines of DK country?
Any feedback on this game is much appreciated, Im curious about it.

I remember reading about the game in Nintendo Power. Basically it's a platformer/puzzle hybrid, and you're some glob of clay that can transform into different animals. That's pretty much all I remember.

I think Skullmonkies is the sequel to Claymates.

Claymates is one of my favorite SNES platformers. In the game, you play a boy who has been transformed into a clay ball and has to rescue his father. You can morph into your various "animal buddies" including a duck, a cat, a gopher, a mouse, and a fish. Each animal has their own special skill (the duck can fly, and the mouse can dash). After you pass each level, you have to figure out a puzzle where you move these robots around to destroy an obstacle or two blocking you from getting to the next level on the map.

If you've played Clayfighter, the graphics and sound are pretty much the same. In fact, the animal characters in Claymates made cameos in the first Clayfighter as card holders.

Here's something I found a little while ago by Brian Greenstone, who worked on the game.

On another note, the other games he worked on (several SNES titles and Steel Harbinger for PlayStation) are mentioned there as well, so it's also a good read for SNES fans.

Oh no no no. Skullmonkeys is the sequel to The Neverhood, a beautiful little PC adventure game - the only product ever released by Dreamworks Interactive, if memory serves.

Only Japan received the Playstation port of The Neverhood (where it was released as Klaymen Klaymen). The PC release is extremely rare; it's one of those few PC games that people will pay top dollar for.

I played it (or tried to). It is seriously for little kids in my opinion.

I always liked this game. I remember renting it way back when. I bought it a while back but never got to spend a good amount of time with it. It's a fun little platformer, and I like the idea of changing into different animals and stuff. It's definitely worth $3, that's for sure!

Well im a big fam of platformers, and being a huge fan of Klonoa cheery music and kiddy characters wont turn me off

Anyway I will give it a try, I didnt eve look into the game, I got it just because it was an R5 for $3.

This game used to get a premium price a year or two ago (like $25 - $30) but now the price has dropped off. Still it is very hard to find a complete one due to the fact that it is slightly rare and the box is easy to tear up (has a hologram sticker on the front). I got my cousin (age 8) to try it out, he played it for about 5 minutes before yanking it out of the machine and trying something else.

I love Tiny Toons nes to death same with mario 3 etc etc cherry music doesn't upset me neither does cartoony charas look at dkc but this game is awful imo and only overated on this board specifically? (I'd say the music is more like crackhouse garage synth chalk board)

I don't want to say I told you so, but I told you so, ah but one for collection I guess.
