Yeah, I'd much rather be looking at a non-edited, non-interlaced picture if it's going to be 1x size.

I'd much rather have the left over the right. If it was 2x size, maybe, but 1x, give me plain old unedited video.

But as a note to the creators, put in whatever filters you want. Just make sure there's a plain option.

The way I picture it would work. Either the L, R or Select button would bring up a menu of options. Obviously the Square and X button would be B and A respectively with options to use other buttons. Maybe Select could be a menu and L or R could toggle between "blitters". Or better yet, load and save Freeze states. Yes!

    Now you're on the trolley!

Even without sound, as long as it worked full speed.

I just want to play my NES games on the go without one of those oversized GBA add-ons that only work with Famicom games or very flimsy NES adapters.

Frankly, I'm not surprised that there are already emulators coming out for the PSP. Kinda makes me wish I had one, but I'll settle with emulators and roms on my computer to play games I don't have just yet.

They do look pretty cool though, not only you have a sexy machine that can play the newest games, but it can also play the classics? Everyone wins!

not to go off topic but at this point how is the emulation of older machines on new handhelds?

We are talking about PSP...whatsup with N-Gage?
are the games running at full speed? is the emulation good quality? what systems are supported?

and if n-gage does all that ...why buy a PSP?

Because N-Gage umm.. how do I put this.. it sucks? Yeah, that's it. Also, the screen? It's small. LOOK HOW MUCH SCREEN YOU GET WITH THE PSP! N-Gage.. I can't stress how much it sucks.

Anyways. I wouldn't want emulation on any other modern handheld. The PSP just has the right stuff. Huge screen. Processing power.

Not to get off topic, but I'd rather have some better PSP games to be honest. Was really not impressed w/ the the JPN or what I saw of the US lineup. Until that happens, I won't have a reason to buy one, to try out emulators.

Because the N-Gage freaking sucks dude, but Jasoco beat me too that - however I wanted to make a second note incase it was missed.

I just want to add the N-Gage's resolution is a piddly little 176 x 208! That's not even enough to fit an NES game on there let alone a vertical arcade game without squishing. Why would I even prefer a PSP over an N-Gage? There's your answer. I do not need a phone, and if I did, I sure as hell wouldn't want the fugly monstrosity that is the N-Gage/QD. Tiny screen be gone! Give me a PSP.

Even the GBA is 240 x 160. The DS, two 256x192 screens. Whoo, why not go lower and get an N-Gage? Why not?

Because I'm bored, here's a display size comparison with a screenshot of SMB again for reference.

    Yellow: PSP
    Blue: GBA
Green: DS (One display, I debated adding the second above it but decided you get the idea.)
    Red: N-Gage

well sooner or later the emulation is going to kick start as they play aroudn with the US 1.5 firmware. I am just waiting for some other emulators but SNES & Genesis emulators are more than enough.

Hmmm...I was gonna pick up a PSP pretty soon because I was sure there was already emulation working for it but I guess I'll just grab a gba flashcart instead. Should give me something to do while flying out for vacation.

Doesn't the GP32 have an emulator for GBA, NES, Genesis, and SNES?

The PSP does ENOUGH things NOW to make it worth a purchase -- you can play games, watch movies in UMD format, download video clips and movies and watch them, use it as a MP3 player, and soon you can browse the web.

Emulation would just be a bonus.

Sheesh! If true, which it looks to be as there's a link, wow.

When I first saw the headline, I half expected to find my fake mockup posted. I coulda been a rumor starter!!!

Then there's the supposed SNES one.

Still 1.0 only. They really need to crack through that wall. It's so close I can feel it!

PSP Emulation is all I have been doing lately! A quick rundown:

    Turbografx 16 - PERFECT!
    NES - PERFECT!
    Gameboy - PERFECT!
SMS and Game Gear - Near perfect, full speed, sound is kind of raspy
SNES - at 333mhz and a FS of 2, darn near perfect on most games
Genesis - Full speed, but very preliminary sound
Neogeo CD - Full speed, no sound...some games are very glitchy
Neogeo Pocket - Slow as hell, no sound.

So far, this is what I have tried. As stated, the emulators I said were perfect are ones that I have no encountered a rom that would not load, no slowdown, full complete sound. The TG16 emulator is currently my favorite, because I loved that system and the emulation is so darn good...my PSP might as well be a Turbo Express with a better screen. I played Military Madness tonight for 2 hours. Needless to say, I am VERY pleased with the PSP's emulation. Easily the best handheld emulation I have ever experienced...with the Zodiac now 2nd on that list.

Also, I forgot to add, these are not limited to v1.0 Japanese PSP's anymore. This has probably been posted before here somewhere, but there is a swap method if you have two memory sticks and a v1.50 system software USA PSP....which I'm sure most do unless you updated. If you did, sorry, won't work unfortunately.

Wow, this sounds awesome. But exactly how does all this work? I don't have a PSP right now, but this is making me seriously consider getting one. If I can play all the great TG-16 games on this, and everything runs full speed, and the sound is good, then that would be the clincher right there.

But how does one get this to work? I need two memory cards? How big do they have to be? How do I get the necessary emulators and roms onto it?

Man, I really want to check this out!
