Default PlayStation (and other) Longbox Multi-Disc Packaging

Here's another thread focusing on obscure aspects of PlayStation longbox packaging. (Just in case you didn't get enough in the longbox foam topic.)

How did publishers deal with multiple discs in longbox packaging? I ask because I received a Braindead 13 yesterday. It came in a cardboard longbox, with the manual, and with the foam. (w00t!) Disc 1 was held on the longbox's integrated spindle. Disc 2, however, was contained in a paper slipcover with a round cellophane-type plastic window, like the kind of cover that most computer games come in these days.

So, is my Braindead 13 less than complete? I know that some of the plastic (Saturn-style) longbox multidisc games included an extra plastic insert with a spindle to hold the second disc (although I can't recall whether those were Saturn or PlayStation games--I'll check my longbox collection when I get home). This critical piece of longdong collecting minutia must be clarified!

(And what the heck--let's figure it out for Saturn, Sega CD, and the rest, too.)

My Braindead 13 is exactly the same.
Also my Panzer Dragoon Saga and Street Fighter Collection for Saturn both came in black paper sleeves with no cellophane.
I think pretty much most multidisc games came in paper sleeves, rather than a plastic insert, those seem less common.

Yep, having viewed Kris' longbox collection (and even bought a few of them for her), any multidisc game has the extra discs in sleeves within the box.

yea, my multidisc PSX Longbox Shockwave Assault is in a white paper like sleeve, but not the kind with the clear window....its that "almost paper" white stuff and it has grooves cut in it to fit into the posts in the inside of the case....if you need a picture, let me know and ill get one

I've got a Longboxed D and it has paper sleeves for the other discs (I think they are white). But its considered complete with those sleeves IMO. I'll also point out that MY Braindead 13 doesnt have the sleeves and I do need to find them.

Remember though that the PS LB games with sleeves have a little ridges in the sleeves to keep them in place in your LB, so not just any sleeve will do.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

When I bought Street Fighter Collection many moons ago, I promptly grabbed one of those extra trays for the second disc.

I just didn't want to scuff up the disc pulling it in and out of that sleeve!

OK, so my sleeve may or may not be original. Gotta look again.

I discovered that I was thinking of my Novastorm, which I bought sealed. It came in a Sega Saturn-style plastic "jewelcase" longbox. The second disc is on a dark grey plastic insert with a spindle. The insert has four indents cut out of it so that it nests in place on the posts and over the longbox's integrated spindle. Interesting that they moved away from that type of packaging for later multi-disc longbox releases. Probably saved $0.25 by using paper sleeves instead!

yea...but $0.25 x 1,000,000 units = $250,000.00 extra profit....i would have done it too, if that is truly the price difference
